And this is what it looks like (still have to test this in Quest Mode.... the opponent's icon might be too big).

I don't know if I like the width that it adds... wouldn't it be better if it were behind the number? (the icon would need to be less "bold" though)

It might look better with 32x32 icons, I'll try that next.

An ankh? A little bit ancient Egyptian symbology? *shrugs* In literal terms, I suppose nothing represents life better than that.

We may want to consider a different layout manager while we are at it. The current layout manager may not be a good use of the limited space that we have. Sol would like to have a column of icons for phase stops. Add in another column for a mana pool with numbers.
I am not sure what my idea would look like once it was finished. I also can't predict how well it would scale from smallest monitor to a larger monitor. It is just something for us to consider.

I'm also not a fan of the extra width. The main focus of the game is still the battlefield.
Perhaps above the life total number?

First time poster, been playing around with Forge now for about a month... absolutely brilliant. Thanks to all the devs for, IMHO, the best Offline MTG program for folks like me who are very casual, just learning, and know NOBODY who plays.
I built the latest version with the script/bat files and spent a little time customizing the Attack, Defend, Summoning icons, the concept of, I really like, as it adds some nice definition to what's going on in the playfield. Just trying out some things, as I like to tinker.
I have also become very fond of the Twilight theme for playing in... just the right amount of darkness for the card playing area.

I scaled my large screen monitor down to 1024 x 768 which is the smallest size supported by forge. With the left hand panel on the battlefield set at the normal default narrow width, the two player panels are about 190 x 190 pixels in size.
There does not appear to be enough room to fit the opponent picture into this small area. We could have this pic only display itself when we widen the panel. Otherwise it would be hidden like it is in our current system.
190 x 190 pixels might be enough to display the current info and to add in icons/buttons for the mana pool and phase stops.
