Rules questions
by DennisBergkamp » 21 Jan 2009, 21:23
Here's some rules questions I have, hopefully you guys can help me out:
1. Multiple instances of Lifelink on a creature will trigger more life gain. However, will each instance of lifelink create a separate instance on the stack? I think it should, but I'm not sure....
2. I've been messing around adding some wall-related cards: Rolling Stones and Wall of Mulch. I added Thallid Shell-Dweller in the previous version, which has defender, but does not have the creature type Wall. So my questions are:
-will Rolling Stones cause it to lose defender?
-can Thallid Shell-Dweller be sacrificed to Wall of Mulch?

1 - Yes I keep reading the term "they stack". SO I would tend to think that they're separate from each other.... If one instance resolves, then before the next instance, the power is changed, then the next instance uses the new power value.
2 - The creature type Wall has not gone away.... The un-printed rule that creatures with the type "wall" couldn't attack is replaced by the keyword "Defender". So, any card that cares about a creature type of "wall" still only acts on "wall creatures", not just any creature with defender. So, no to both of your sub-questions.

Alright, I thought so... thanks!
Currently the multiple Lifelink functionality I've just added in, do get added as separate triggers on the stack (which is correct), but I'm not sure if changing the power in between those triggers will net the correct result. Something to test I suppose...

Changing the power in between the multiple life-link triggers resolving should not change the amount of life gained, since the amount of damage dealt (which is what triggers lifelink) remains unchanged.DennisBergkamp wrote:Currently the multiple Lifelink functionality I've just added in, do get added as separate triggers on the stack (which is correct), but I'm not sure if changing the power in between those triggers will net the correct result.
