Having never bothered to play with it before I didn't realize that the way Ostracize works is wrong because you are not allowed to see all the cards in opponents hand. Might I suggest an overlay interface window? Pops up showing all cards in opponents hand and then you select what isn't grayed out (which might seem sophisticated but should be fairly easy to do graphically using a display filter.)

Persist at least with Kitchen Finks is giving a +1/+1 counter not a -1/-1.

Well technically, the same underdevelopment applies for searching libraries, which is anoying when playing with generated decks :P.

Yes that is true, however a hand size of 7 ish cards is easier to work with than a library of possibly 50+ cards.

...which wouldn't be a problem if the cards you're allowed to select were sorted first. Another(easier) option would be a "View whole <hand/library" button that popped up a window similar to view grave/removed.

The artifact Voltaic Key appears to be working OK, but the string "1, tap: Untap target artifact." does not appear in the card's text description panel.

I'm sorry if this is known, but this thread is way too long.

Briarhorn, for some reason, tends to give +6/+0 instead of +3/+3.

BTW, I have an idea: when playing a mana ability that can generate multiple colors (i.e. most duals, Birds of Paradise, etc.) currently a window pops up, you click a color/type, and OK it.

My idea is that the first item in the list would be already highlighted, so you could just OK it in case where you don't really care what type of mana you get (for example when paying the generic part of the cost). I think it would be faster. Definitely for me, since the window persistently appears on a different monitor than the rest of the game for me :)

I wonder if this still applies to the latest release?

The AI's Hell-Bent Raider was buggy.

I clicked it, and its ability activated which FORCED the AI to discard and immediately gain Protection From White. The AI should be the only one to use this ability right since this was its card.

I did this repeatedly and the AI discarded its entire hand during my turn because of my accidental click.

Well, that IS a bug. Even if it doesn't have a name, Echoing Truth always returns its target (in this case, it just wouldn't return anything else).

Is it really normal for Forge's engine to allow the human player access to the AI creature's abilities? It can be abused at times, since I can virtually control the AI's monsters and waste their entire turn by using their creature abilties on the wrong targets and situations.

I tested this with some cards that the AI had, and I was able to use their abilities such as the Hell-Bent Raider's discard ability to gain protection, etc... during MY turn.

All you have to do is click the AI creature and there you go, you'd get free control instantly.

It also applies to other permanents too.

Concrete example:
The computer recently played Voltaic Key (using a generated deck)

I had a tapped Mox Jet.

So all I do is click on the Voltaic Key of the AI's and pay 1 (of my lands) to activate its ability to Untap my Mox Jet.

That sure is nasty. Best to avoid clicking the opponent's cards until this is fixed.

Hmm, I just accidentally stumbled upon why the 0 cost bug persisted: whoever "fixed" it, please keep in mind that you should always use .equals for strings, i.e.
Code: Select all
getManaCost() == "0"
always returns false :P.

The bug is that the protection from blue aspect of the flipped over creature should not go through. And if it did then it should not allow targeting at all.

My official answer is kind of. I realized it but never fixed it. It has to do with the SpellAbility.canPlay() method which restricts when and who can play it like most spells can only be played when they are in your hand and most abilities can only be played if they are on the battlefield. Many cards in CardFactory extend Spell.java or Ability.java and I think their canPlay() method needs check who is using that ability.

(And saying battlefield still feels wrong.)

I'm not sure why saying battlefield feels wrong. It is a mouthful and could be more eloquent but it's not off flavor or just a whimsical change.
