The sound files should be .wav format.

We should try to make sure that they are not too large in size. The sound files are located in the /res/sound/ directory.

Hi Vlad, glad you're enjoying the program! With regards to the sounds, the first post of that thread maintained a list of event sounds that Forge supports. Any contribution to that aspect of the project would be greatly appreciated. The dev team got it started and sourced, mixed or recorded some initial sounds, but then we opened it up to the community to improve it while we concentrated on other aspects. Hope you stick around. Enjoy!

Okay, I realize I'm a pest. :(

1. I followed Chris's advice and downloaded some decks from gos. The instructions state to place these in the res/ai/decks folder. Anyhow, there seems to be no sub-folder of that name, so I am lost.

2. I constructed a deck and saved it but I cannot seem to "use" the deck in a duel.

Basically, I am lost as to where decks go and how to use them.

I promise that I'll get the hang of this. I've been playing random duels which are a blast, but, I want to try some of my own decks as well as those available for download here.

Also, and this is a good thing, I am starting to create sound files! Some of these will sound very bizarre. One of them for instance is a sample of a baby crying that I processed down three octaves then reversed the sample and processed it further with a sort of flange effect. As I create these, I'll need to know who to send them to. I am going to create quite a few and you folks can pick and choose what you want. Also, I can modify any sounds to your liking!

Back to these questions: if I can get these straight, I THINK I have a handle on Forge :) Between Forge and Manalink 3.0 the two really scratch the Magic itch. I stopped playing "live" M:TG after Judgement so, I have missed 10 years of expansions and living for now in a foreign country, it is prohibitively expensive for me to try to catch up! Most of the cards I own are now banned.

Thanks guys and again I sincerely apologize for the stupid questions.

Keep tapping!!

Read the instructions at the top of the README.txt file titled "Updating to a newer version Instructions". You then will need to find the <userDir>/decks/constructed/ folder.

Once you have found the "<userDir>/decks/constructed/" folder you can then move the Decks from Gos files to that directory.

Chris,

The decks are in the proper directory but Forge does not recognize them. I guess rather than bothering you I'll just play Forge as I have been and Manalink 3.0 when I want to play a simple duel. I'll keep poking around.

Also, What I will do is format your README into something more readable and attach it.

Thanks for your help anyway. :)

Can you tell me which post has these instructions? I thought I had put "/res/decks/constructed/" everywhere. I realize that this is not completely obvious, because it's relative to the forge directory. I also realize I'm using "res" as a shortcut for the forge directory.

Anyway, don't be afraid to ask. As you can tell, people here are friendly and helpful.

Can you send us a copy of one of these deck files that isn't being read correctly? I'd be good to figure out what's not working for you.

Also, have you tried using the Import Data option near the bottom of the Forge Home screen menu?

Hi drdev,

I *think* I might have it figured out.

I loaded a deck from a bunch from gos - thank you gos!! - and then I had to save it again, THEN it worked in game. I am going to try tomorrow with a deck I constructed from the editor. If that doesn't work, I will send a screenshot.

I am so used to Manalink that I just need to rethink my thinking. LOL

You guys have been really REALLY great. I don't know where the thank you button is - is there one? But, thank you seems so inadequate! Forge is an absolute joy really. I just need to retool my addled pate a bit. I'll keep in touch.

By the way, I got murdered today in a duel with this!! I love it. ;)

So again....

Thank you!!!!!!

Vlad, I think I may have figured out what was causing saving to fail for you. There was a bug where once you saved a deck once, attempting to save further changes would not update the file nor the deck that gets played in games properly, despite the "*" going away in the Current Deck tab.

This bug has been fixed in the latest source. Please let me know if that sounds like the issue you were seeing.

Glad to hear you're enjoying Forge.

Hi again sorcerers,

Okay, there is just one last bit that is eluding me. Decks are showing up for Quest Mode so thanks for the help!! This game is wonderful.

Now, for straight ahead sanctioned duels, there are a number of preconstructed decks. Is it possible to use decks I have either created or imported into Forge to use in that module of the game?

I have a nasssty vampire deck I want to try out in a few duels but it doesn't show up in the decks for sanctioned preconstructed.

Thanks a million and an original Black Lotus for all!

The object which contains the “Preconstructed Decks” label is actually a button. Click on this button to display a list of deck types.

And just in case Chris's screen shot is confusing because it doesn't match how your constructed match screen looks, this is the new constructed match setup screen that has been in the last few snapshot builds, but will only make it's beta debut with today's 1.5.11 public beta release.
