I just released 1.5.19.008. It's a small patch that fixes the "Choose a pile" crash and the hidden cards details view. More importantly it gets rid of the largeHeap flag from the Android manifest, which should fix the performance problems I've been noticing with recent builds.
I realize this means some people may not be able to run the latest build without encountering an Out of Memory issue. For those people, I've included a special link on the first post to a build with the largeHeap flag set. At this time, that's just the 1.5.19.007 build, but I'll try to update it now and then until I can get memory usage down such that the largeHeap flag is no longer needed. Just try to let me know if you're on that special build if you post bug reports.
EDIT: Never mind. Removing the flag didn't really help the performance issues after all, and I'd rather not need to maintain two separate builds. I've re-published 1.5.19.008 with the flag turned back on, so everyone can take the new version without worry.
I'll have to just investigate the performance problem from a different angle.

That makes me sad, especially since you seemed to think it was still sluggish even with the flag off. As it's just an Alpha build, wouldn't it be better to have as many people as people using it?drdev wrote:I realize this means some people may not be able to run the latest build without encountering an Out of Memory issue. I probably won't even bother to update anymore if I know I won't be able to get the same updates that everyone else will.

Wow, you beat me by like 2 seconds. I reverted this decision and turned the flag back on. The published build has already been updated. Sorry about that.friarsol wrote:That makes me sad, especially since you seemed to think it was still sluggish even with the flag off. Ahh good to hear. Have you tried running any memory management recorders via a debug android session? I wonder what part is hogging a fair amount of resources that aren't necessarily in use by the game.drdev wrote:Wow, you beat me by like 2 seconds. I have a working game, just not the pretty pictures to go with it. Not sure why the images that are downloaded aren't working.

Thanks again for the amazing work and fast updates on this.
Just a request, can the vibrate-on-damage be an option? I really like the kinetic feedback in most circumstances but in a quiet room it can still be disturbing if someone's trying to sleep
Obviously work on higher-priority things first, just thought I'd mention it.

I set things up so adding additional settings is quick and easy, so this is no trouble at all. I even went ahead and added a setting to disable the short vibration when long pressing cards to zoom. The new settings will be at the bottom of the settings screen as shown below.SpiderBrigade wrote:Thanks again for the amazing work and fast updates on this.

For anyone who hadn't discovered this before, note that tapping on the group headers on the settings screen will collapse the group.
Thanks for the feedback.

I second that, now I can finish games which is great! However and as I said on previous posts, when the image to load is smaller than 25Kb aprox it seems to fail to load it. I substituted those on the deck I wanted to play with bigger pictures 120ish Kb and they all worked fine. I wonder if there is any memory limitation on that step or something...I have no idea.Rosieodonell wrote:I have a working game, just not the pretty pictures to go with it. For those having issues with downloading card pics, I recommend installing desktop Forge, downloading the pics through that, zipping them up, transferring that zip file to Forge/cache/pics on your phone, then unzipping it there. That might prove faster than downloading them directly on your phone/tablet anyway, even once I get the downloader working properly (which is still on my TODO list). Meanwhile, it's a pretty simple workaround that should work for you.

So I can confirm that the picture size has to be bigger than 25 kb-30kb if you copy over from the computer.
I reloaded the pictures and everything works. I think I will reimage all the "standard" set pictures and post a zip file for everyone else who has the issues!

So far i only have the Journey to Nyx cards prepared. (turns out takes a lot of time
)
But the nice thing is anyone playing forge can load these cards in there cards folder to have Journey pictures which aren't downloaded yet.
Let me know if you run into issues

Hi there, and thanks a lot for this incredible work.
I've installed build 008 in my Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 with Android 4.3, and it installed and run the first time, just took some time building the fonts. I already played a game with no errors (with no images).
The problem I have has already been mentioned by some, I need to configure the pics folder to my real external 32GB SD, not the "internal SD" that Samsung tells Android. In the internal SD I don't have enough available space for the pictures, it would make the system go crazy and lose app and system configurations (as you well know happens to Android when low on main storage). I guess configuring the cache folder is enough, since the data folder is not really big, but keeping them together makes sense. I think when configuring Forge Android, all existing configuration files and folders should be moved by the app to the new location, precluding errors when manually doing it.
I also have a question regarding the transfer from PC/storage of zipped images. Would I have to create a pics.zip with the wole contents of cache/pics? Just a cards.zip with the whole set of cache/pics/cards subfolders and then the rest of the cache/pics folders (the latter unzipped, or in separate ZIPs?)?... Or a ZIP for each set folder in cache/pics/cards? I don't really know. Do I keep them zipped in android or is it necessary to unpack?
