@ChrisH
Thanks Chris.
I'm downloading them HQ on the XP laptop then going to transfer them over to OS X. I was getting the following error for many cards on OS X (appears to be fine on XP)
*EDIT* no it's happening on XP too - just different files... my internet doesn't appear to be going on and offline
You must be connected to the Internet. Error downloading card:

In Forge (and IRL games) you'll know an equipment is attached to a creature if the equipment's card image is right underneath a creature's card image. In a way, equipments work like Auras (Enchant Creature for those who haven't played the game in a very very long while). The only difference is equipments can be transferred from one creature to another provided you pay the equip cost.LutherBlissett wrote:@psillusionist
OK that would explain why my Plasma was killed also - but I don't recall seeing the Imperiosaur "Use" the weapon when it attacked. Should there be a dialogue to show when the CPU is using an artifact weapon and which creature it is applied to?

There was a problem with the pic urls for cards from the Zendikar set. The files located in /pics_link/ were fixed with release 01-17.
You should download the HQ pics using Forge version 01-17. The problem you are noticing is from the 01-01 version.
Hmmm, according to your error message you are using svn r275, and that version is current. The server may be unavailable at this time. You could try tomorrow and hope for better luck at that time.

@ChrisH
yeah it's consistently downloading a few cards, then failing. I might see if I get a better result later.
Just out of curiosity, with the HTTP proxy would I be inserting my local IP, the house connection IP or something else?

When you download HQ pics you should have a choice of two different servers. I remember that one of them appeared to be somewhat slower than the other. I am on a slow modem dial up connection and I choose to use the faster of the two servers.

it's not working for either of them now... I managed about 600 cards on the XP with it still failing lots - now it fails for every card.
maybe i should try tomorrow but it seems a bit odd that it would download some and then error others without any perceivable consistency.

Once a person has downloaded all of the pictures they tend to not to want to go through the same experience a second time. With each new Forge beta release we will move the jpgs from the older version over to the newer version.
This way we only will have to download jpgs for the new cards.

Arcbound Slith gets its counter at end of turn. It should get it after dealing damage.
And another one the first turn of a new game, where it isn't even in play???

Not sure if the following is a bug, a rules issue or just the way it should be.
Eitherway, it feels sort of wrong to me.
If you have: an Island a Master Transmuter and a Black Lotus in play, you can get 3 mana from the Lotus without losing it.
First, click the Black Lotus to put it's mana ability ont he stack. Then, click the Master Transmuter and use it to return the Black Lotus to your hand and either put another artifact into play or select cancel and put nothing into play. (do not return the Lotus into play, you will lose it!) Now, after the Lotus returns to your hand, let the mana ability resolve and cash in your 3 mana. Then you play the Lotus again and can repeat on your next turn.
My main problem with the above situation is: are you even supposted to get the 3 mana if the Black Lotus leaves play before it resolves?
Oh, rules guru, where are you?
This is not as bad as using Memnarch to turn your Tolarian Academy into an artifact and use Tezzeret the Seeker or Voltaic Key to untap it so you can get twice the mana, but at least that is a legal trick where no cards leave play.

This is not supposed to happen. You only get the 3 mana if you sacrifice Black Lotus, so there's never a chance to send it back to your hand.Mr.Chaos wrote:Not sure if the following is a bug, a rules issue or just the way it should be.

I have to agree with indicatie's post. The "sacrifice" part is necessary, and bouncing it back to your hand must not generate any mana. Now if Forge generates the mana still, it is a bug that can be abused.Mr.Chaos wrote:Not sure if the following is a bug, a rules issue or just the way it should be.

Here's some info:
http://wiki.mtgsalvation.com/article/Sacrifice
If you want a serious infinite mana combo, wait for Auriok Salvagers. That card has an activated ability for 2 mana, while you generate 3 mana with Black Lotus or Lion's Eye Diamond.
Someone better implement that card fast

The best combo demonstrating this example has got to be this:
Black Lotus/Lion's Eye Diamond + Auriok Salvagers + Pyrite Spellbomb
Generate mana, activate Pyrite Spellbomb for 2 damage, return artifacts, repeat until you deal 20 damage, with Black Lotus alternating between white and red mana.

Thanks guys. I thought the not sacrificing part was a little dicy anyway.
And Apthaven, thanks for that list of infinite mana combo's.
I never knew there where so many ways to get loads of mana!
Now, I wonder why I never saw them used at my local gamingnights...
Time to build a deck or two. (with real cards)

The problem is that we can't (currently) treat the sacrifice as the cost it should be. The sacrifice is occuring as part of the resolution of the ability.
The Force will be with you, Always.

The problem with the above case is that Black Lotus doesn't use the stack, so there's no time to respond.
In this case it's an activated mana ability.112.4 - Some activated abilities and some triggered abilities are mana abilities. Mana abilities follow special rules: They don't use the stack, and, under certain circumstances, a player can activate mana abilities even if he or she doesn't have priority. See Rule 605, "Mana Abilities." CompRules 2009/07/08

I could make the sacrifice happen in a setBeforePayMana(). However, this still wouldn't fix the issue that it shouldn't be using the stack at all.Rob Cashwalker wrote:The problem is that we can't (currently) treat the sacrifice as the cost it should be.
