Thanks for the clarification. Hopefully plant wall images will be ready tomorrow afternoon (South African time
) otherwise sometime Thursday. Got a few hours between projects and after-hours.

I like those different rarities you listed. And like you said, Mythic rare pets could maybe later on be acquired through quest rewards.moomarc wrote:The plant wall actually has 6 iterations as far as I can tell. I personally think that we should avoid mythic rarity as they're still bought pets. My proposal for the rarities is this:DennisBergkamp wrote:I think it's a great idea to give increasing levels higher rarities... maybe common - uncommon - rare - mythic? Or common - uncommon - uncommon - rare? Assuming there's 4 levels for the plant that is (I can't remember).moomarc wrote:Are there any opinions as to whether I should change the rarity indicated by the set icons for different tiers of the pets, or just leave them all as commons?(I included token file names just to confirm that I have them all correct. I've seen the final plant wall named g_1_4_plant_wall somewhere on the forums so let me know if that's the correct name instead.)

If you want to have mythic rare pets I'd incorporate it some other way, perhaps as a quest reward. That way it would fit better flavorwise. The quester could meet a strange hermit after some advanced quest who sells/gives him strange seeds that effectively upgrade the plant wall to the deathtouch-lifegain version. You'd have to remove it from the bazaar, but it is extra incentive for doing longer quests.
I'm currently in the process of adding more pets to the new "quest" mode, most of them more powerful, more expensive and/or harder to obtain than the current ones (to offset this difference in power, I've added "cooldowns" to each pet: after using one in a battle it has to rest for a bit - the more powerful ones have higher cooldowns, whereas the Wolf or Bird can be used much more frequently).

Finally have the plant wall done... Here's the HQ images with frame. There's only small changes from level to level, but between the first and last one the difference is fairly substantial. I think it fits well for a plant having it grow from level to level. The vines thicken slightly and sprout thorns, while the leaves become serrated and more spearlike in shape.
Let me know what you think.
Okay... turns out its just the first 5 levels. Can't upload more attachments than that at a time. And I wasn't sure what filesize is allowed so didn't want to create a zip with them. Final level in followup post.

The top tier Plant Wall pet...
Thought I'd post the full resolution artwork as well in case anyone is interested for some reason (cropped it works great as a background on my Blackberry

Many of us upload to MediaFire and we then post the URLs for the files. The forge beta release have been handled in this fashion for a number of months.
There are other options but you can try MediaFire: http://www.mediafire.com/

Great job. I really like how they turned out.

The changes from level to level is nicely handled. I will scale these down to 200 x 285 and will also scale it down to the small size which is displayed in the bazaar.

I've uploaded to Mediafire. An archive with all 3 quality sets can be downloaded at New Plant Wall
Its a 7zip archive because it seems to have the best compression, but if anyone wants it in another format, just ask.

Thanks Chris. Check the LQ ones in the archive at mediafire first just in case they're fine. Otherwise go ahead with converting. The archive also has the original resolution I worked at if they'd be better to convert from.Chris H. wrote:`moomarc wrote:Finally have the plant wall done... Here's the HQ images with frame. Ah, thank you.
I added a few tags to make the URL more readable. If you edit your message you will see the mods that I made.

They look good to me. Which PD app did you use?

`moomarc wrote::shock: PD app? If that's Photo Downscaling then I just used Photoshop and used incrimental scaling with some minor sharpening at the end.
The text appears to be just as sharp as I could get using Lanczos 3 in a shareware app. Photoshop with incrimental scaling and some minor sharpening at the end works very well.
By the way:
The /forge/res/pics/icons/ folder has a smaller version of the pet pics. These pics apparently measure 201 x 280 pixels. They use the same file name except they have the string "_small" added just before the file extension at the end. The file names for the 201 x 280 pixels version of the plant wall would be:
`g_0_1_plant_wall_small.jpg
g_0_2_plant_wall_small.jpg
g_0_3_plant_wall_small.jpg
g_1_3_plant_wall_deathtouch_small.jpg
g_1_3_plant_wall_small.jpg
g_1_4_plant_wall_small.jpg
These should be the pics that display in the bazaar. I guess that Dennis wrote code to downscale these pics to an even smaller size in game when displayed in the bazaar.
If Dennis sees this message he might be able to provide some good advice. Would it be best to scale the small pet pics to 201 x 280 pixels? Should they be scaled down to the size which is displayed in the bazaar?

Reason: small size is 201 x 280 pixels not 201 x 285 pixels

Moomarc, these look absolutely beautiful! Thanks a lot for creating them
Are you planning on substituting the pets also ?
I can't remember exactly what the deal was with the Bazaar pics, but I created the "_small" pics so they could display properly in the bazaar (especially since I use HQ pics). It might be alright though to just use the size of the LQ pics (200x285?), so by making copies of them and renaming them to "*name*_small.jpg".
