Lust for War is attached to my 2/2 Daggerback Baselisk. The 2/2 is forced to attack every turn, but I am not taking any damage. (Should be 3 damage to controller each turn.)

Spatzi, please place bug reports in the thread of the version you are reporting about. This thread is for observations about how the AI makes poor decisions in combat so one of the devs can look into improving it.Spatzi wrote:Lust for War is attached to my 2/2 Daggerback Baselisk. Andy9973 wrote:While playing I noticed the same as cc-drake. When I attack with a creature with high power (and no trample) the AI blocks with two or more creatures which are not strong enough to kill the attacking creature. This happens on a regular basis to me, no matter if the creature I attack with is a Geist-Honored Monk, Sunspear Shikari equipped with Strata Scythe or a Timbermaw Larva.
I have the feeling that this happens more often when I attack with only a few very big creatures (e.g one or two creatures that are 9/9 each). I also got the impression that the AI always blocks with exactly two creatures in these situations but never with three or more creatures.
I attached one of my decks that I played with (just remove the .zip ending in the filename). Try to get a big Dungrove Elder or Timbermaw Larva and attack. Once the total power of the attacking creature(s) is enough to kill the AI it'll start blocking and often it will block with two creatures.
The following picture shows an exemplary situation I had while testing this a bit more.
(It's a big picture, so I put it into a spoiler.)

I finally found and fixed this bug. Thanks cc-drake, Andy9973 and gos.gos wrote:The AI is repeatedly blocking with too many creatures in version 1.2.15. It blocks non-trampling attackers with multiple creatures who don't have the possibility of killing the attacker instead of just chump blocking.
I can't reproduce this.Spatzi wrote:Lust for War is attached to my 2/2 Daggerback Baselisk. The 2/2 is forced to attack every turn, but I am not taking any damage. (Should be 3 damage to controller each turn.)

Should the AI always activate +*/+* abilities regardless of board state?
It's currently activating the Perilous Shadow +2/+2 ability when it's blocking a creature (eg: Selesnya Sentry) that's regenerating, and in this case wouldn't have killed it anyway.
Also activating the Korozda Guildmage +1/+1,intimidate ability on itself during its turn even if it's not going to attack.

had 2 life left and 3 creatures without flying (tapped from the last attack) and nohting more ai turn now with 1 creature(sublime archangel)it decides to use supreme verdict while it could have attacked for the win
so my quesion is why cant the ai see this or is to much forward thinking for the ai?

The AI used Obelisk of Undoing to bounce a Wasp token (courtesy of The Hive) which it had declared as a chump blocker. It stood to gain nothing by doing so - there was no reason for the AI to prefer bouncing the token over letting it take the hit (no lifelink or damage triggers on my creature, etc.).
(Perhaps this is too insignificant a corner case to take into account, since there would be a benefit to bouncing a recastable nontoken creature this way.)

I'm at 8 life and Doran, the Siege Tower in play. AI has Raging Ravine, Treetop Village and Kitchen Finks with a -1/-1 counter. However AI only attacked with Treetop Village. It seems that AI take into account that Kitchen Finks would only deal 1 damage because of Doran, the Siege Tower but did not take into account that Raging Ravine would get a +1/+1 counter when it attacks so total damage dealt would be 8.

AI is at 3 life and a Rakdos Shred-Freak on the board. I attack with a Lotleth Troll and Diregraf Ghoul. AI blocks the Lotleth Troll and dies from the trample damage.
So many cards, so little time
