Forge now has a game log tab.Tyrael wrote:Hey guys,
a few days ago I checked the slightlymagic forums for updates on Shandalar, since this is my favorite way to play MtG and stumbled across Forge.
Firstly: congratulations and wow. This is an impressive piece of work, I can't express how happy I am to finally see a real alternative to MWS, Shandalar, and ManaLink. The current state of Forge is already awesome, but I am sure if developers keep going like this there is great potential to make this an even better game than Shandalar in terms of adventurous playing MtG, which is my dream
A small question: sometimes during computer turns the AI plays a card without me really noticing what happens (of course I can check the log, but it would be nice to see what's going on step by step, maybe similar to ManaLink). Is it possible to change that somewhere?

Thanks Tyrael, glad you like it. It will be exciting to see what happens with this project.
When I turn my evil eye to the battlefield, I plan on addressing this, most likely with something like a "visual stack" a la Hurloon's suggestions. But yeah, for now there's the game log (shortcut: L).Tyrael wrote:A small question: sometimes during computer turns the AI plays a card without me really noticing what happens (of course I can check the log, but it would be nice to see what's going on step by step, maybe similar to ManaLink). I was thinking this was a strange question but then I figured you may not have Java installed.celbii wrote:Can you tell me how to open this in windows? Thanks.
Forge is written in Java, which is not installed by default on Windows. You need to go to Java's site and download Java, then install it on your computer.
Once that's done, just unzip the zip from the first post in this thread, and run Forge.exe. Pics and stuff can be downloaded from the "utilities" menu.

The forge archives are packaged as a ".tar.bz2" archive file. Celbii needs to use a Windows utility which can uncompress the ".tar.bz2" archive file. Someone might be able to recommend a popular Windows application that can handle this format.

I use 7zip. It should be able to handle the files just fine.Chris H. wrote:The forge archives are packaged as a ".tar.bz2" archive file. I'm thinking about playing around with an altered UI for smaller screens, the developer document said that the first port of call is to ask for source code on the forums, so is there a zipped copy of the current version's code I can download?

You can get the source code of forge by checking out the repository with a subversion client of your choice - this wiki page should get you started: http://www.slightlymagic.net/wiki/Forge ... ping_Forge

When there are multiple triggers on the stack the pop up window's text field is too small to actually see the text or select triggers. Is there any work around for this?

The problem isn't multiple triggers. Certain triggers don't have their stack description set properly. Is this Exalted? I can't quite tell. I know Sloth was fixing some of these, but there may be a few that are still missing.Kersed wrote:When there are multiple triggers on the stack the pop up window's text field is too small to actually see the text or select triggers. Seeing the picture posted that's probably exalted and for now that's the only I didn't see a description for in the box... But well there's more than 10k so there's probably a few more I haven't seen

Yeah, that was Exalted. I also recall it happening with a few other triggers, but I can't remember which ones specifically. I can test some stuff and try to figure out what other triggers this happens to.friarsol wrote:

My Nezumi Shortfang is not flipping when it removes the last card in my opponent's hand, nor when he uses his ability on my opponent when he has an empty hand.
On the contrary, it seems to be flipping when it uses its ability and the opponent retains cards in hand.
