Unable to launch Forge past "Loading Decks" section.

When I launch Forge now (the 5/3/13 version), the app never launches past the "Loading Decks" message.
I was able to launch the 4/26/13 version once. I went into the Import section, but it was taking so long to display, that I tried to cancel the import. The program hung, and I eventually shut it from the task manager. Forge has never launched again on that version or the most recent. I've re-downloaded the files, but nothing seems to work. It seems like canceling the import messed something up, but why is every new version now hanging? I can still play the last working version I had (the 3/1/13 version), but nothing since. I've tried renaming the res folder from the 3/1 version (where I had tried to import from). I've also rebooted endlessly in the futile hope that one more reboot will act as some kind of divine panacea.
How can I start Forge fresh again? The properties.profile.example file just confused me further.
Any help anyone could provide to get me playing again would be appreciated. I appreciate all of the hard work that has gone into developing Forge into the amazing (and addictive) program it is and would love to keep pace with its updates.
Thanks!
