MTG Forge wiki site
by Chris H. » 26 May 2009, 12:14
I have visited the MTG Forge wiki site several times and have noticed that there is no content on this web page. This site is located at:
http://www.slightlymagic.net/wiki/MTG_Forge
I decided to download Rares 03-03-more docs archive from his google site and I found several paragraphs in his docs that I felt would be useful for this wifi page. I changed the number of cards from 300 to the current 1632 number.
I admit that I have no previous wiki experience and was not sure if my efforts would help or not. If anyone would like to step in and add any additional content, well, that would be great!

I admit that I had no real idea what I would post. I found several paragraphs that looked promising in one of your pdf files. I did a simple copy and paste.mtgrares wrote:Wiki's are interesting but don't really know what I would post.

Thanks Chris. Sometimes you just can't forecast how any particular thing will be useful or helpful, if at all. In that case all you can do is get it started and see where it goes, and that's what you just did. That's the CCGHQ spirit!

I believe that there is a link to Rare's blog now on the wiki and the blog has links to the downloads on google and to this forum. We will keep our fingers crossed and hope that this helps to guide people to the appropriate sites.

I wouldn't call WIki Editing entirely non-coding...having done it. It has minimal coding in the form of markup. The main problem with doing wiki articles is, there has to be at least one editor to make sure that people aren't just adding garbage or creating flamewars (cf wikipedia) or there needs to be some kind of security.

If any of those shenanigans were to happen, it likely would have... the wiki's been there untouched by even us for how long? Security includes obscurity. But good point anyway.GandoTheBard wrote:I wouldn't call WIki Editing entirely non-coding...having done it. It has minimal coding in the form of markup. I had to sign in before I could edit the content on the wiki. It asked for the password and username that I use on the CCGH web forums.Rob Cashwalker wrote:If any of those shenanigans were to happen, it likely would have... the wiki's been there untouched by even us for how long? I kind of like the idea that you have to be a member here before you can touch the wiki content. This may help to reduce the chance of vandalism.

Don't worry about it. For example, the MWS wiki has only been messed with a couple of times all these years, and the vandals never persist for some reason. The problem with wikis is getting people to edit them, not defacement prevention. I can't get anyone to update the MWS help guide, so there it sits, growing old.

Right, but any one can become a member of the forum with no verification. You have to become a member at Wikipedia, but those sort of things happen all the time there, because it's mainstream.I kind of like the idea that you have to be a member here before you can touch the wiki content.

Vandalism, like, Llanowar Elves really do have Lifelink, First Strike AND Double Strike ?This may help to reduce the chance of vandalism.

No like espousing marxist views on an anarchist info post.
