Skipping pictures and card data?
by Osoir » 19 Jan 2014, 19:28
I recently downloaded Forge and love it, it's a fantastic program and I can't believe I didn't know about it before this year. That said, I've encountered a somewhat annoying issue -- not sure if this has already been raised and addressed, so my apologies if it has.
I've noticed that none of the Theros cards currently have pictures, though they show up when you search for them in the Deck Editor (say, Fabled Hero). I wondered if I had simply forgotten to download those pictures, so I went into content downloads and saw that I had some 872 images missing... but upon "downloading" them, Forge gives me an error that it has just skipped all 872 of them.
Is there any way to fix this issue? Are Theros (and presumably other) card images simply not available? I figured that might explain the lack of Theros decks to play in pre-constructed, but wasn't sure given how those cards are still available to search in the Deck Editor.
Thanks!

I believe this is the same question as Forge FAQ #11.
11. Forge states that there are pictures that are available to download but they fail to do so. (viewtopic.php?f=26&t=12218)

Ah, alright then. Sorry for overlooking the FAQ entry then.
Should I assume that the cards in question would work (i.e., if a card is in the Deck Editor, is it scripted to function in play even if it has no picture?) or is an incomplete card for all intents and purposes a dead one until fixed?

If we have a card in the deck editor, then it's scripted and it should generally work. If for some reason it doesn't, check out the link in my signature on how we request bugs be posted. Traditionally we have as much of a set as possible scripted in Forge by the release date of that set. If cards are unable to be scripted for some reason, we won't have any scripts for them at all, so you won't see them in the deck editor. There are currently about 250 cards in all of Magic that fit into this category.Osoir wrote:Ah, alright then. Sorry for overlooking the FAQ entry then.

Previously, pictures would take a few weeks from the release date before they'd be ready, but the last few sets are taking some more time due to the primary person responsible for processing cards stepping down. Last I heard the pictures for Theros (and I believe M14?) were in the final stages of processing, so hopefully we'll see an official release from the CCGHQ team soon.
