Is this something we should update for each card in cards.txt and also CardFactory.java ?

I've just updated Lifelink to fit the new rules. No more 4x Battlegrace Angel and gaining gazillions of life points each attack :(

Yeah, but internally, the command object for "CIP" doesn't need to be changed. Just anything that specifically mentions "comes into play".

Funny post of facebook from Ferrett (webmaster at Star City Games, and a good friend of mine):
Heh. Just got an email saying, "Your Magic search engine is broken - I searched Oracle for 'comes into play' and found no cards at all."

Official WoC response:
Yes, cards no longer come into play.
Only instant and sorcery cards can be played now.
The next set probably won't have any creatures in it at all.
Heck, a few sets from now and we will have done away with the whole "cards" concept and just print a rulesheet.

Sorry, got a little carried a way there but it just felt natural after that Ferrett post.

He's in Cleavland now. They moved from Alaska at least 7 years ago, so his wife could start a law career. (For those out of the loop, they met on the Compuserv Star Wars Forum (I was there too) and fell in love, he moved from Michigan to Alaska to marry her)

Ferrett is a great writer, I love the stuff he wrote for Wizards and his column at Star City Games.

Hehe.. you should read his Live Journal stuff and some of the items he had on theferrett.com. There were some more famous tales of hillarity (pre magic) that he posted back on CompuServe....

Correction: Any card can be played, but only if there's a possibility of it being a land (Mind's Desire, for example), and instants and sorceries are cast, not played.
