A tournament using quest decks ?
That sounds really great.

As i just completed my 100th battle with the AI in Ravnica, i decided to give a look at how many cards had been in my stockpile :
Image

wow, didn't thought there were that many.

I decided to build a new deck , as with the enormous amount of card i have in my stockpile, i have lots of choice, and for once go with a ravnica monocolored deck (i have made lots of dual colored one so far).
I decided to go with White.

So far it has worked great, and i even managed to beat the nasty Momir Vig challenge with it

Here's my white ravnica deck :
Fizanko-RavWhite | Open
1 Angel of Serenity|RTR
1 Arrest|RTR
2 Assault Griffin|GTC
1 Azorius Justiciar|RTR
1 Blazing Archon|RAV
1 Blind Obedience|GTC
2 Boros Elite|GTC
2 Celestial Ancient|DIS
4 Daring Skyjek|GTC
2 Ethereal Armor|RTR
1 Gideon, Champion of Justice|GTC
1 Glaring Spotlight|GTC
1 Guardian of the Gateless|GTC
2 Guardian's Magemark|GPT
2 Holy Mantle|GTC
1 Murder Investigation|GTC
20 Plains|RTR|1
4 Plains|RTR|2
1 Rest in Peace|RTR
4 Seller of Songbirds|RTR
2 Soul Tithe|RTR
4 Trained Caracal|RTR

So happy, finally managed to reach my first ever 50 win streak and got some really great reward for it :
Image

And that last duel (and a couple of them before) had been won with a ravnica monocolored green test deck i had built :
Fizanko-RavGreen | Open
2 Beastmaster's Magemark|GPT
3 Burst of Strength|GTC
3 Crocanura|GTC
3 Deadbridge Goliath|RTR
1 Death's Presence|RTR
1 Doubling Season|RAV
4 Dryad Sophisticate|GPT
3 Experiment One|GTC
3 Forced Adaptation|GTC
4 Forest|RAV|1
6 Forest|RAV|2
5 Forest|RAV|3
7 Forest|RAV|4
2 Forest|RTR|5
1 Giant Adephage|GTC
3 Ivy Lane Denizen|GTC
1 Scion of the Wild|RAV
3 Skarrgan Pit-Skulk|GPT
1 Slime Molding|RTR
3 Utopia Sprawl|DIS
1 Wild Beastmaster|RTR

I'm especially happy with getting Master of Cruelties , Utvara Hellkite , Voice or Resurgence and Trostani, Selesnya's Voice that were 4 cards i didn't had in my currently near-3000 card stockpile.

That open even more new possible deck idea to me, i really like that Ravnica-only quest and its world :)

Nice! I've never actually hit 50 myself. I can get to 40-ish, but usually something goes wrong and I lose a match in there. :P

I think out of the Ravnica world i never got that high.

Probably only possible in that world to get very high streak because the AI does not play with broken decks (i only started with the challenges for when i started to have more than 2000 cards in my stock).
Certainly the reason i like Ravnica so much, i don't need to use broken card to fight an AI with broken cards.

As in the other worlds, even if you can yourself build very broken one, you can still face an AI that will get a bit more luck and be able to use broken cards before you.

Another restart, as I'm trying something a bit different to keep memory usage ramping to a minimum. Nothing in the card shop except for basic lands and cards I lose in ante until I get to 50 wins. Boosters for winning now contain 40 commons, 20 uncommons and 15 rares. That builds up my card pool. I am currently 4-2 with this quest with a deck that's using landwalking creatures, Angels, Dragons, Vampires and Specters and spells.

new version and so time for a new quest after my Ravnica fun.

I'll try a Zendikar block (Zendikar+Worldwake+Rise of Eldrazi) - only quest, similarly to what i did with Ravnica, only Zendikar block cards, rewards and spellshop from the quest preferences and only in the Zendikar world.

I'm not used at all to that world, so it will be a time of discovery, especially after my Ravnica 2 blocks quest that i didn't start with being completely new to its system, probably going to get a lot of losses before i "get" it :D

Talking about luck, what do i see in my starting card stockpile :

Image

Emrakul, the Aeons Torn and Eldrazi Conscription !
Now i hope to find some card to play them from the library as i doubt you can reach that amount of required mana in normal play without a game being already over :)

Sure you can. Some games against the AI do last long enough for you to drop one of those Eldrazi baddies.

For the 8 mana card yes, but honestly i don't remember the last time i got 15 lands down before a game was over (for me or for the AI)

I'll have to get some mana boosting creature cards to help, and probably make use of some instant/sorcery that can call for more land (got 2 of those on my starting deck).

But Zendikar has some cards like
Eye of Ugin or Eldrazi Temple to lower the cost of an Eldrazi card.
And all those weak 0/1 Eldrazi token that many card will create are certainly going to help.
Interesting time ahead :D

In other news, i lost my first duel and won my 2nd one using a green and red based deck (that has lot of room for improvement as it's semi weak 60 card deck), got an interesting reward on my win :
Image

Hmm, sounds rather awesome, i'm tempted to start playing with black now.

I haven't played much in the other worlds, so I'm not too familiar with those opponents, but of the ones in the main world, Barney Rubble, Sherlock Holmes, The Great Gatsby, and a number of the other ones can take long enough for you to get sufficient land to drop an Eldrazi bomb on them.

I wish there was Elvish Piper in that Zendikar block, but fortunately it's not in (or it would be too broken) :D

Kalitas, Bloodchief of Ghet comes very rarely in my hand and even more rarely on the battlefield, but when it's there, oh the fun.

So i was dueling the AI Kozilek "i can get dozen of eldrazi spawns in no time" supposedly labelled "easy".

Then the AI as it has lots of eldrazi spawns, play Artisan of Kozilek , yeah, just like that a card that usually says "game over for you start next turn"

But, Kalitas, Bloodchief of Ghet my good friend :
Image

And hello supervampire token 10/9 on my side :)

Then, as usual when it can pull lots of Eldrazi Spawn , the AI play Kozilek, Butcher of Truth
Image

another "game over for you next turn" card.

But .. Kalitas, Bloodchief of Ghet good :)

hello another supervampire token 12/12 on my side
Image

:D

Luck was on my side, as i managed to beat that ai
Image

using that black deck, still early in the quest (i'm at 5 win/5 losses)

Started a new quest to try Quest Draft.
It's amazing.

Quest is very different now. I need money all the time, so I changed my playstyle, finally went for plants and pets to increase my win ratio, and started to play for ante. Indeed I win a lot more now, though now and then an opponent draws the perfect hand and crushes me out of the blue (like land, land, Stinkdrinker Daredevil x2, Inferno Titan x2  , which nearly bankrupted me since it also robbed me of Elspeth, Knight-Errant :? and I had to buy her back!).

What may need fine tuning is how Challenges are handled.
I find myself avoiding them now, since you need very powerful and possibly specific decks, and interrupting a win-streak hurts a lot when you're hunting for prizes.
I would attempt one only immediately after another loss.

I've just done a Homelands draft in quest mode and despite all the flak Homelands get for being the worst expansion ever - it was AMAZING!

The stuff does have internal sinergies and logics, with silly looking cards being in fact vital answers to other silly looking cards. Creature enchantments and Shrink were incredibly cool and scrambling to find answers to opposing fliers with Feast of Unicorn was actually tense despite the slow format.

This would've never happened outside of quest mode as I'd never ever do a straight homelands draft (or think it made any sense), thanks a load for this. :)
