I decided to give a try at making an edition file for Vantage Masters and it seems to work
I attached the edition file Vintage Masters.txt to this post, download it and put it in your
ForgeDirectory\res\editions\

I setup the C/M/R/U type according to WoTC classification :
http://archive.wizards.com/Magic/magazi ... rcana/1507

I removed Volrath's Shapeshifter (it was a Rare, so R ) from the edition text file, as it's not yet coded in Forge

Then if you want to have the picture for that set appearing in the Deck Editor, i used the pictures tenminutegod in this thread :
viewtopic.php?f=15&t=12319&p=166576&hilit=vintage+masters#p166576
Then i renamed them all for Forge use and resized/resaved them all for my convenience :

http://www.mediafire.com/download/c4s63 ... /VMAmq.rar
(note : don't right click -> save as, that's not a direct link, it goes to mediafire download page)

And if needed i attached an image for booster packs

I'm not sure if that's interesting from a quest point of view , but for those trying to play with a MTGO cube/draft it can be interesting to have the modern cards images.

No need to do that. Forge doesn't load cards that it doesn't have available.

Thnx Fizanko!
Will vintage masters now also be available as a draft format?

I looked into it, and it seems from my tinkerings you must add :
Code: Select all
Vintage Masters, 3/6/M15, VMA
(defined this way it takes the regular lands from M15 , as VMA does not come with regular lands and i have no idea what MTGO uses, you can use something other than M15 if you prefer visuals of regular lands from another set)

in the end of the file named blocks.txt located in
yourForgeDirectory\res\blockdata\

Without this, even if you added the edition file from my previous post, VMA does not appear in the draft lists

Collecting them in this post as it relates to the quest, i made icons for the AI opponents in duel&challenges for Zendikar and Shandalar (that had no pictures and then only had a "?" instead )

For Zendikar :
http://www.mediafire.com/download/5r3ob ... dicons.rar
(note : don't right click -> save as, that's not a direct link, it goes to mediafire download page)
take all the png files from the downloaded zendicons.rar archive and put those image files in :
C:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Local\Forge\Cache\pics\icons\
or
C:\Users\<yourusername>\Application Data\Roaming\Forge\Cache\pics\icons\
or
C:\Documents and Settings\<yourusername>\Application Data\Forge\Cache\pics\icons\
depending on your OS
<your home directory>/Library/Application Support/Forge/Cache/pics/icons/
for OSX

Every Zendikar opponent and challenge will now have his own picture

For Shandalar
http://www.mediafire.com/download/1ba0b ... aicons.rar
(note : don't right click -> save as, that's not a direct link, it goes to mediafire download page)
take all the jpg files from the downloaded shandaicons.rar archive and put those image files in :
C:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Local\Forge\Cache\pics\icons\
or
C:\Users\<yourusername>\Application Data\Roaming\Forge\Cache\pics\icons\
or
C:\Documents and Settings\<yourusername>\Application Data\Forge\Cache\pics\icons\
depending on your OS
<your home directory>/Library/Application Support/Forge/Cache/pics/icons/
for OSX

Every Shandalar opponent and challenge will now have his own picture

Is there are portraits for main world opponents ?

And pet/plant images for all levels ? Since not many of them have existing mtg token as a suitable replacement.

Edit:
I have another question. Recently I've started quest with limited starting pool - eight edition only (same for prized cards), with the intention to leisurely unlock the rest. Now I've unlocked new sets, but there is a problem - singles from any sets other then 8ed doesn't appear in spell shop at all, only boosters.

Is this behavior intentional ? I need to know if I'm screwed or not.

For the main world opponents, they have portraits that are usually downloaded from the content downloader (most of them , newly introduced opponent may lack a portrait though, but as i make them as i see portraits missing, i have no idea which opponents are lacking portraits now, so if you miss a few of them, give the names and i can share my pictures).

No idea for the other question, i usually play in other worlds and then do not try to unlock things in main world.

Oh, right. Haven't even thought about it, bad habit of doing everything manually. :)
Thanks Fizanko!

Nevermind the second question, had to restart Forge in order for it to apply new set restrictions. Though now I'm puzzled with the draft generator behavior, it almost always gives me drafts consisting only from the first set of the block.

I got to share my latest quest, I’m playing a Battle of Wits deck and having a blast!

I had already started a new quest (fantasy, unrestricted, medium, but with 50 starting rares). I saw a Demonic Tutor and somehow it struck me, I had never played a Battle of Wits deck in forge! I could've started a new custom quest making sure I got a Battle of Wits in my starting pool, but I wanted to try the hard way without. Managed to win the first draft tournament, chose Odyssey for the 2nd tournament, win that one too and chose a Battle of Wits a reward.

Next target: Brainspoil. Many Brainspoils. Chose a Ravnica tournament, got crushed, no Brainspoil. I bought a Ravnica fat pack. 1 Brainspoil! And a lot of signets and other transmuters, some that can find my Demonic Tutor, which can find my Battle of Wits. Because that's how it goes in Battle of Wits-land

Deck building time! Shall i play 85 or 90 lands? :-) I chose to play Esper. Best control shell, and blue and black are already mandatory. I ended up with 200 “Playables” (including lands). So I had to start with 25 very crappy cards to get to the minimum of 225 cards that you need.

Now I had to win 5 matches before I could enter a new tournament. These were the most exciting matches I played in a while. A lot of variance and weak cards, but also a lot of card draw and tutors, thus having to make a lot of decisions. Somehow managed to win all 5 matches and replace the crappy cards with less crappy. Also bought another fat pack of Ravnica and a charm of vigor, emptying my pockets.

After 5 matches a Time spiral draft was offered. I hardly played that one. It is a strange format. For the 1st time I ended up with a mono-coloured deck (white) and crushed the opposition. I chose a Damnation as reward, it goes very well with 3x Dimir Housegard I got.

No rules, just play a Battle of Wits deck.
(Maybe 1 rule: no traveling to Ravnica because it is then too easy to harvest for Brainspoils and the like.)

Hey guys,

How am I supposed to build the deck "Vic Stone 4"?
Snowballing cheap hexproof creatures with cheap enchantments (daybreak coronet =___=) making it super fast and super powerful.
I can't beat it even with my constructed decks.

Could someone give me hints/tips?

Thanks!

I can confirm Fizanko's method works.

Maybe you changed the file properties, or the text code, or something? Check how your text editor saves stuff by default.
