@friarsol - Are your resource files in Forge\res\? You should not have created a folder named assets.

As for zipping cardsfolder within res, I didn't realize that was an option. I'll look into doing so for the next release to save on disk space and download time.

I've seen that before too but I had that that my font caching fix would have fixed it. I guess I'll have to investigate further. Thanks for reporting this, and I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the app otherwise.

No, I had a Forge/res. For some reason when I extracted the assets zip it didn't actually finish (leaving me with a skins folder with nothing in it). I guess I'll have to mess with it more tomorrow, since now I have no idea what actually finished extracting from the assets zip.

I'll copy back in the settings for that and commit it in a few.

Edit: Or maybe I should look at the commit log first. :P It could use a tiny bit of cleaning up, which I'll go do.

Thanks for your hard work on this. So excited to see Forge on Android.

Unfortunately I'm getting the following on my Nexus 10 (android 4.4.2): the apk installs but immediately after launching I get "unfortunately, Forge has stopped."

I've put all the files in sdcard/forge which I believe is equivalent to "/storage/emulated/0" I noticed KrazyTheFox mention "...in order to use my high res cards I had to change the storage location, since my phone's internal storage is considered external" This makes me wonder if there's a wrinkle with file locations that I've set up wrongly.

EDIT: After reading friarsol's posts I doublechecked that everything had copied over to /res and did find some omitted files in /skins, but replacing these didn't fix the problem.

Thanks in advance for any help...

Well, I think I got my assets all extracted properly, but it looks like I'm running into Memory issues, my loading screen gets to "Finishing Startup". And hangs with this error:

I generally have .5 - .8 gigs free (since there's only 1 gb ram to begin with) when I have no active apps. But it looks like that might be too little for my device to handle.

One thing I did observe, is that would certainly be nice to have a way to disable the screensaver when in the app, since the loading was taking a fair amount of time during the initial creation of all the data files and even more when I wasn't paying enough attention to keep the screen active.

Got the same issue with an A700 under android 4.1.1
I've installed in the tablet memory under:
sdcard0/Forge/res/<res contents>
After launching i get the same message: "unfortunately, Forge has stopped"

@Krazy - Perhaps I need to include support for a file that allows you to configure where card pics and user data are stored, just as the desktop version allows. Is this going to be a common problem?

I would definitely prefer to keep pics on my external SD card, since my device's SD is mostly full, and I can easily pop in another 16 gig card in to double my space.

Well I have 2 android devices and I don't run external cards on either. Is it possible to choose where we store the files?

I get the issue where the constructed and settings page pops up but the game itself hangs if I select constructed. Trying this on my galaxy S1 with 2.3.3 (android).

I can't wait to get this working!

Ok, a little progress trying to run Forge on my GT-P3100 Samsung Galaxy Tab 2: the new version installed fine, but launching it either causes the game to crash ("Forge has stopped", no further information is provided) or to show a black screen without showing anything else (tried waiting for, like, 10 minutes). I tried unpacking the assets both to my SD card and to my device memory, there is no difference... :( Android 4.2.2.

Ok, it sounds like I clearly need to provide a way to configure the location that pics and data are stored. I'll work on something to that effect today.

For those experiencing black screen on startup, that suggests that Forge is having trouble finding your res/ folder. Can you please post the exact path to your res/ folder?

@Rosieodonell - that's the first I've heard of it hanging like that after getting to the home screen. Do you receive any kind of error? Have you tried waiting a little bit? I've noticed the Constructed screen sometimes takes a few seconds to open the first time on my phone and I'm not sure why. Also, have you been able to open the Settings screen without issue?

Lastly, for those of you that have successfully gotten the app working, could you please post what device you're using and if you had to take any special steps to do get it working? I'd like to get an idea of what percentage of people are having installation or startup problems and if there's a pattern there.

Thanks and sorry to those having problems. It's issues like these that hopefully we can get past early and not run into again, but I understand the frustration of having to wait.

I guess it's not just online-only games that can have launch day problems. :)

Ok, this worked now (I think the reason it didn't work before was because I had Forge installed in both places at the same time - both on my SD and on my device internal memory card):
/storage/emulated/0/Forge

Fingers crossed... (it's loading, the cardsfolder is loading awfully slow 'cause it's unpacked, I think...)
