i was wondering why dont you let the human decide who goes first. Because sometimes i want to go 2nd with my deck (double land tax). So i guess would it be to hard? I must of missed the topic because this is something that i would think that is thought about. Also what about computer mull's. I understand it might me hard to do but could you do something if the starting hand has no lands go to 6 or if you only have 1 land you mull or if you can cast a spell until turn 4 like that have 3 lands that are black and all red cards.

about going second - forge's turn structure consists of the human's and the computer's turn. so the phases are
human upkeep - human main 1 -.... computer end phase
that's the reason why it's not that easy to let the computer go first. it doesn't mean starting a turn later, but in the middle of a turn
the mulligans: by default, the computer never has too little land: the "land stacking" mechanism means that he has no lands in his starting hand and will draw only lands in the first few turns. thus, he has always a land to play, but also a maximum of spells.
deciding if a hand is "too expensive" is of course worth a try

Until the last several months, the computer always had the "land stacking" mechanism set to on.
In recent months, there is now a check box for "Stack AI land" and this switch can be used to turn this feature on or off.

With the current simple land stacking, even if you let the computer really go first, it wouldn't be able to do anything since it wouldn't get its first land until turn 2 draw step.

The computer can't go first because it crashes everything. It is a bug dealing with the phases which is very complicated.
