Would it be feasible to distribute a dump of the wiki as "Documentation/"? I feel like that "Scripting guide" is something that should be in the Help menu, whether online or off.

I think a nice addition could be a number showing the number of counters on the card. The number could stay just above PT and would probably need a different color.

Or if that's too hard, at least make it bold on the card description (text on the left), so it's easily recognizable among the text.

In the deck editor, it would be nice to be able to edit the quantity of each card in the deck you're creating. Removing cards isn't so bad but having to go back and find them in the master cards list to add more is cumbersome.

I love forge, and I've been playing it for ages. I just got a new old netbook, and I've come across a problem.

My max resolution is 1024x600

The editor is too big for the screen, literally, I can't find the menu bar to drag it, I can't full-screen it. Which means I can't draft or play quest mode.

I also have issues when playing in-game, as some elements of the UI don't resize very well. And some elements AUTO resize. This is a pretty big drawback.

I would like to see some ability to shrink the size of the font of the UI in-game, and I would love to have a resizeable editor window.

you are absolutely correct. we have known about this issue since Oct 27th, 2010. sadly, no developer has volunteered for the task yet.

if you'd like to monitor the status of your feature request, you can monitor the issue at http://www.cardforge.org/bugz/view.php?id=9

you may have to sign up for a Mantis account first.

added as Mantis issue #93 at http://www.cardforge.org/bugz/view.php?id=93

you can sign up for Mantis to monitor receive email updates when there is activity in this feature request. for example, when a developer accepts it as an assignment.

edit: less technobabble

For constructed deck mode, would it be possible to add additional groups to the deck selector similar to how the generated decks work at present? How I imagine it working is the \res\decks folder would be scanned for sub-folders (which would populate the deck chooser as group names) and the contents of those would populate the list of decks to choose from if one is selected.

This would help to manage large deck lists in any way that a player wants. They could either sort by deck type if they want to split them into aggro, control, necro etc. or arrange by source (eg Forge original decks, own decks, WotC columns etc). Players could then playtest decks against certain types more easily, or separate fun gimmicky decks from more serious decks; whatever their particular need is. Decks could be copied between multiple groups as well if it fits more than one category.

Deck_Grouping.jpg
My vision...

Example:
If the following folders exist,
..\res\decks\All\
..\res\decks\Forged Decks\
..\res\decks\WotC Precon\
..\res\decks\Single Card Strategy\
..\res\decks\First Turn Kills\
..\res\decks\UB Decks\
..\res\decks\Red Decks\

then the deck chooser would have the following options:
Generate Deck
Random -> Random deck from 'All' folder
All -> Saved decks go here by default, but can be copied/moved
Forged Decks
WotC Precon
Single Card Strategy
First Turn Kills
UB Decks
Red Decks

If one of the groups is chosen then a list would pop up with the decks in that folder and 'Random [GROUPNAME]...'. Having it based on folders like this users can create their own groups rather than relying on ones established by the devs using metadata in the deck files, so once the initial code is set up there is nothing new to add for additional groups.

Don't know how realistic this is, but would love it if it could be implemented.

I'm introducing my brother-in-law to Magic, but hardly see him, so I'm busy creating some 'Getting started' tutorial decks for Forge. They rely quite a bit on game state setup files though, so it would be great if a setup file could be named in the deck metadata and have it automatically loaded. The setup file would either have to be in the same folder as the corresponding deck, or there could be a designated folder for the setup files.

Whether this can be done or not I'll post the files here when thay're ready.

A tutorial in some way would be nice. Forge tends to only offer more and more for experienced players.

In the early days forge came with a pdf file with some instructions. Forge also had a few training decks located in a single deck file.

At some point when dev work slows down a little it might be nice to re-add an updated version containing instructions with pictures and a few training decks.

Having more metadata available to the .dck files would also be a good thing.

Couple of requests if you don't mind:

1. The ability to choose a set/multiple sets for 2/3/5 color randomly generated decks in the Constructed mode (for quick games)

3. The ability for the human (not the computer) to choose to only have access to a set/multiple sets in Quest mode.

Thanks a ton!
