SoMa wrote:I have 2 UI requests, at least one of them is a pretty small thing that would save a lot of time:

1) When working with the various menus with editors, for example the Quest shop, when you click a button like Buy or Sell, immediately set the UI focus back to the corresponding card list.

I usually go to the shop after every match, sell my singles while they are marked "new", and look for new singles on sale. The way I would like to do it is using the arrow keys to navigate the list with the left hand and click a button with the mouse in the right hand, skipping cards I want to keep just with the arrow keys. However, when I want to keep a card and not sell it, I have to travel to the list component with the mouse, give the component focus back, and return the cursor to the SELL button. That takes a lot longer than it should, those are unnecessary clicks and mouse travel paths.

2) Remember the last used sorting in editor components.

When selling, I always sort by the "new" column. When buying I typically sort by rarity. Saving the last used sort order would save the user the hassle of doing that over and over again.
I would also appreciate these changes, especially the first.

Well, I've got good news for ya - I'm upgrading all the editors now, so I'll incorporate these requests if I can. :)

And yes, it will include basic things like full-screen editing #-o and the same editor, for all situations #-o

Should be done-ish release-after-next (maybe late April, early May).

I was thinking it would be cool to eventually have a Singleton version of Quest Mode.

I would also like Quest to have a more limited feel and be able to ban and restrict certain cards of your choosing. I go against decks using Power 9 mox's and eventually make a deck that is even worse

My deck always ends up the same in the end... here are some of the power cards in my deck

2x Ancestral Recall
1x Time Walk
4x Demonic Tutor
2x Voltaic Key
1x Time Vault
3x Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
2x Vampire Hexmage
2x Dark Depths
1x Mox Sapphire
1x Mox Ruby
1x Mox Jet
2x Tinker
1x Blightsteel Colossus
2x Tolarian Academy
8x Seat of the Synod
7x Vault of Wispers
1x Mox Opal
1x Mystical Tutor
2x Sol Ring
1x Time Twister

this is an example of how degenerative my Quest deck can get without any kind of restriction and I am sure some have made even more powerful decks.

Regular Quest is fun don't get me wrong but I would like to have options like these

Oh and btw thanks to the devs for putting preconstructed deck options in quest mode I am really enjoying that right now =)

Another cool feature I would like to see is a progressive draft mode. So let me explain what I mean by that.

You start out drafting M12 for example. You draft 3 boosters of M12 and make a deck and play the computers decks. You get scored and the computer saves your deck

The next draft you pick for example Ravnica block and draft 3 boosters. You have your old deck in your inventory and can now make a new deck with your M12 drafted deck and the Ravnica cards you drafted and so can the computer.

The only problem I see is coding the AI to assimilate the good cards in the old draft deck and make it one deck the will be competitive.

On a separate note in "regular draft mode" I would like to see mixed block drafting. For example lets say I wanted to do: 1 pack of Ravnica, 1 Pack of Dark Ascension, and 1 pack of Invasion

There's no easy way to enable any mix at the moment, but you can make your own fantasy blocks by editing 'blocks.txt' in \res\blockdata something like this:
Index:43|Set0:RAV|Set1:DKA|Set2:INV|Name:Invading Ravnica|DraftPacks:3|LandSetCode:RAV|SealedPacks:6
or just edit one of the existing ones.

How long do you play Quest for? That's a lot of power. Do you play with the default quest preferences?

If you play for ante against the Very Hard quest opponents it doesn't take too long to pick up some power, duals, etc. You can use something like an efficient burn deck when playing for ante and stop anteing once you want to use a deck full of expensive goodies.

@PsiOptics: While Forge doesn't place restrictions on deck construction, you can still force yourself to use the normal 4x limit and, say, the Vintage B&R list. I also force myself to use 60+ card decks after getting over that initial hump where you hardly have any cards. Frankly, using the most optimized list gets boring ... before long you build new, more interesting decks or start a new quest.

And, to keep slightly on topic with feature requests, has anyone done any work on enabling Forge to check decks for legality in various formats (including banned and restricted lists)? I think it'd be useful for some of the requests for special quest or gauntlet modes, as well as generally helpful.

Yes yes I am well aware of how to get them. I generally play my quest for only about 50 games, and I only end up with one or two power, plus a handful of relevant duals, which is why I was curious about the specifics.

One simple request: can the name of the deck be written somewhere in the Deck Editor UI? When editing multiple versions of a deck, it can get confusing and accidental edits can get saved. Currently, to check which deck I'm editing, I have to save it as a new temporary deck, then open the version I think I had, verify that the cards are the same, then delete the temporary one, then reload the deck. It'd be a great help to simply print the name of deck somewhere.

It can be blank or something like "Untitled Deck" when editing an unsaved new deck, and then simply the name when a deck is loaded.

I don't have a copy of Forge with me, but doesn't it say this information in the title bar?

*ahem* Oh, moomarc? Your graphic services have been requested. Perhaps a new button icon overlay for the affected card images? <grin>
