MTGForge 08/28 (unofficial BETA) version

Postby DennisBergkamp » 28 Aug 2009, 23:01

New version!
1881 cards in total.

This version's updates are mostly code submissions, I fixed a few bugs and added only one card

Features/Fixes:
- Applied Chris' abTgtKeyword fix.
- Merged Rob's spPumpTgt and spDrawCards keywords! Especially the latter has allowed many, many cards to be added just through using this keyword =D>
- Fixed Capsize (would bounce tokens to hand).
- I think I fixed Sliver Overlord (AI would try to gain control of its own slivers).
- Fixed Elvish Champion.
- Merged in a lot of changes from Silly Freak: there is an error reporting feature now that will not only show the error once one occurs, but it can also be saved into a text file.
Should be very useful for fixing those "Computer is thinking..." bugs.
Another addition is a progress bar for downloading card pictures, it's also possible now to use an HTTP or a SOCKS Proxy for downloading them. Awesome stuff!
- Merged Chris' changes to the deck editor (space-wise it's much more efficient now!).
- Angel / Soldier Tokens (or more correct: tokens with vigilance) should also tap and attack when clicking on the top card of the stacked tokens.
- Merged more changes from Silly Freak, different parts of the UI are resizable now. I like this change personally, but others might not. Let us know what you guys think!
- Fixed some token names.

New cards:

- Spidersilk Armor
- Lot of Mass Pump spells (thanks Sloth!)
- Lot of functional reprints + a bunch of code cleanup (thanks Sloth!)
- A lot of cards using Rob's spDrawCards and spPumpTgt keywords (thanks Chris!)

New keywords:

- spPumpTgt
- spDrawCards

I couldn't log in Rob's free webhosting, so just split the archive into 2, and attached it.

There seems to be some merging problem with my code:
I put
Code: Select all
Sungem
0
Artifact
no text
tap: add WUBRG
in cards.txt, made a test deck with 10 sungem 10 fusion elemental, and
a) was not able to play elemental one click as on my version
b) was not able to use the leftover mana in the mana pool
c) was not able to play the card at all no matter what I tried
Halp? It seemed like the sort of situation after which I would find eclipse in the exception catcher :P.
O forest, hold thy wand'ring son
Though fears assail the door.
O foliage, cloak thy ravaged one
In vestments cut for war.

Loads of cool updates, thanks guys! =D>
Spidersilk Armor, now there is a card my elf-decks will like! :D Especially against white weeny flyers, they can often do enough early damage to make it hard for the elves to stay in the game. This card should help keep them flyers grounded.

Ok, played a few games with the new version now.
THe progress bar shown when downloading cards is a great feature! I like how it shows exactly how many cards it has downloaded. Great addition!
I also like the way we now can adjust the various sections of the play area. It is easy to use, well done!
We better watch out boys, this is beginning to look like we know what we are doing.

On my Macintosh computer I am having a problem unpacking the archive. I am getting the following message:

"An error occurred attempting to expand /Users/chrishxxxxxx/Downloads/ReleaseAug28.part2.rar

The structure of the archive is damaged (Error #17540)"

My unpacker gave me at one time a folder with only 16 items. Not good.

I tried to unpack the archives a different way. I received the same error message but now have a folder with 24 items. I am not sure that I can trust the contents of this second unpacked archive.

I downloaded the two files to a folder, then ran RAR to unpack them. I've got Forge downloading the picture files right now.

I also checked on the webhost and was able to log in and transfer a couple files. I don't know what you're issue was, but it's probably resolved by now.

all rarities for MTG Forge 08-28-2009

This archive contains updated rarity files for MTG Forge 08-28. I added the missing rarity values for the 40+ new cards. This set is not compatible with earlier versions of forge.

This archive contains the all rarity files (Sealed Deck) and a set of files which are properly named for use with quest mode.

The file hosting site may have had errors... but seems to be working now.

Thanks guys :) Keep 'em coming.

As always I'll post bugs as soon as I see them.

Chris,

So did you end up being able to download a working version? Usually, the way to open these split archives is that they BOTH have to be in the same directory first, and then opening the first one. Anyway, I'll email you a single RAR just in case, which should work.

Anyway, I'm able to access your web hosting Rob, but when I try to login through the FTP, it says "Authentication failed" every time. Has the password been changed, by any chance?

Zerker,

This is because I still haven't managed to merge your manapool code changes with my code :(
I'll have another shot at this once I got some extra time. Hopefully sometime next weekend.

Dennis,

I got your email and I was able to use my unpacker utility and did not receive an error message.

It now looks like I can explore this new version with no fears of some sort of an unpacking error. :D 8)

Thank you, you are a life saver. =D>

You want to move the following files from the older version of forge to this newest version:

questData

questDecks-easy.txt
questDecks-medium.txt
questDecks-hard.txt

The "questData" file contains your deck files and your card pool. The "questData" file also contains the various AI decks that the computer will play against you.

The other three files contain the names of the AI decks and allows the computer to determine which desks to use against you at the appropriate stage of your quest.

Have fun. :)

I am enjoying the resizable zones and panels in the window which displays the battlefield.

The panels to the left of the zones will resize (on their own) in width when a long text string appears on the stack. The computer just cast an Intuition and check out the screen shot.

We may want to consider adding some code to give the stack word-wrap and give the stack a vertical scroll bar.
