Guinness Book of World Records - World's Longest Method

I submitted MTG Forge to the Guiness Book of World Records for having the "world's longest method" but apparently "we do however think that this item is a little too specialised for a body of reference as general as ours." Oh, well.

Thank you for sending us the details of your recent record proposal for 'The longest method - software programming'. We are afraid to say that we are unable to accept this as a Guinness World Record.

While we certainly do not underestimate your proposal, we do however think that this item is a little too specialised for a body of reference as general as ours. We receive many thousands of record claims every year and we think you will appreciate that we are bound to favour those which reflect the greatest interest.

We realise that this will be disappointing to you. However, we have considered your application carefully; in the context of the specific subject area, and that of records as a whole and this is our decision.

Guinness World Records has absolute discretion as to which Guinness World Record applications are accepted and our decision is final. Guinness World Records may at its discretion and for whatever reason identify some records as either no longer monitored by Guinness World Records or no longer viable.

As your record application has not been accepted, Guinness World Records is in no way associated with the activity relating to your record proposal and we in no way endorse this activity. If you choose to proceed with this activity then this is will be of your own volition and at your own risk.

Once again thank you for your interest in Guinness World Records.

Yours sincerely,

Gareth Deaves
Records Management Team

nice try, anyways. i though we had a chance. the letter seems very... general. it reminds me of a politician talking hours about a topic he has no clue about ("continue at your own risk" ^^).
i wonder if it would have had a positive impact on forge's user numbers...

The letter is very generic, I think maybe a person wrote some of the first paragraph though.

People would be googling "MTG Forge" just to see what the program did, oh well. At least MTG Forge is mentioned on the Magic wiki. I added it and was surprised that it stayed, go wiki!!!

Looks like a "canned" response to me... I bet they send thousands of this very same letter every year :)
I did think we a had a chance too though. In a way I'm glad they didn't select MTGForge, because I sure as heck didn't want to put back all creatures, lands, equipment, etc. into CardFactory.java again

Although having the longest Method is nothing to be proud of, but I guess that was not the point anyways

Hey, if it makes you famous, go for it.

Next up: going for most bugged piece of software ever written. Oh, never mind. I forgot about Microsoft there for a moment.

Well, it's good to see that "pompous" can be sufficiently indicated by e-mail form letters. [-X
