Unable to select commander deck in online multiplayer

I have been trying to play some commander with my friend and every time we start up the game it will give me a randomly generated deck instead of the one I have selected. I have tried selecting different decks. I have tried restarting the client. I am not sure what to do.

I'm running Forge 1.5.52-r-1 if that's any help.
