Customizing commanders

Hello!

I'm looking to customize the colours of an existing commander.

I went into the individual card .txt files within the cardsfolder zip and changed each instance of the colour letter to the new letters. The game doesn't recognize it though, and leaves things as it's old colours.

Perhaps this is overcomplicating the issue. All I'm looking to do is build around a commander using the wrong colours, and have the game let me cast those spells. Unfortunately, it does no good to use a different commander with the correct colours, since it won't play the same.
