card pictures aren't included for a reason

I think it is good that the card pictures aren't packaged along with Forge because Forge is questionable enough without blatantly including the copyrighted pictures. Yes, starcitygames.com and other websites use a ton of card pictures but Wizards lets them. And yes, making the user download the pictures himself is a "legal hack" but it helps makes Forge "more legal".

To add the the 'legalty' issue, including all images in the download package would also make Forge a lot heavier I suppose... having users download the images at their will is purely advantageous if you ask me.

Especially with the new HQ images... my /pics folder is around 450 megs now

Yes without the card images, Forge is much smaller. The download used to be under 1 MB but now it is up to 4.5 MB. (Not that is really matters since most people have amazingly fast downloads.)

Well, I did download forge through a cellphone/satellite setup last summer in Russia...

Downloading Forge is ok, but imagine doing that with the new HQ pictures!
