I think the black screen exit occurs when the app uses too much memory and android kills it.

I'm using lq images. I tried the lazy image load but can't play any cards at all from hand

I've tried it on a few devices and it seems the lower memory ones just can't run the game, perhaps 4gb is just not enough.

Ok, but my Amazon fire has 12 gb internal memory and has the same problem

But how much of that is actually available as system memory to forge Vs just general space for storage etc (I don't know the fire range very well)

For me the game runs fine unless you get into a very long game Vs AI with lots of permanents, then I get the same OOM issue eventually.

No, don't do that, what I mean is the phone memory is partitioned, so I don't think there is much you can do other than ensure minimal other apps are running.

The images are stored on the other partition, so that won't help much if I understand correctly.

Since the update the game won't load past loading cards from folder. Gets to 100% n stays there
