Collectible Card Game Headquarters

I played against Szadek, Lord of Secrets and before combat I casted a fog to prevent the milling from Szadek. What happened was that I still got milled. As far as I know I should be able to choose which replacement effect is going take place and I didn't get a any prompt to do so (I think).
