Using Forge as a paper MTG collection manager

Postby eadred » 23 Jul 2017, 06:57

Hi all, long time user of Forge here.

I have fairly recently got into paper Magic and I was thinking how great it would be if I could manage my paper Magic collection in Forge. To be able to mark the cards that I own in real life, and use the Forge interface to search my collection and deckbuild.

I can't see an easy way to do this in Forge. I was wondering if anyone used Forge to manage their paper Magic collection, and if so how? Perhaps by making a custom Cube with all their owned cards and starting a new quest with a custom Cube. One downside I can see of this method is that it's a little difficult to add new cards to the collection.

Is this a feature that has been considered as a feature for Forge?

Cheers

I have done it - and there was no easy way. 2000+ cards. Really amazing for deck building though - it's worth it.

You can also try Mtgdb.Gui.

Mtgdb.Gui is designed specifically for that - to keep track of your collection and build your decks from it.
If you opt to try it you will NOT have to input your collections or decks manually.

Forge supports selecting and Copying cards to cliboard.
To do this you switch card list to table mode, then select all card using Ctrl+A or mouse, then Ctrl+C

Then in Mtgdb.Gui you paste cliboard as collection using Alt+V

As to the decks - Mtgdb.Gui can open deck files saved in Forge.
