Forge 02/09 (unofficial BETA) version

PostPosted: 10 Feb 2010, 06:00

This is a small update to the 02/06 Beta. I figured I'd post it, since it proved to still have a bunch of new bugs, and also because the link to the original 02/06 version is gone.
It has no new cards (2707 is still the total number).

Fixes/Features:

- Systems with Java 1.5 versions should be able to run Forge again (I haven't been able to test this though).
- Fixed AI targeting for Time Stretch and Time Warp.
- Fixed planeswalker blocking (thanks Gestalt!)
- Fixed the new man lands (they should tap for mana now).
- Fixed Overbeing of Myth.
- Removed a duplicate library reference.
- Added a "Milling = loss condition" option to Quest Mode.

Thanks.

The manland fix is nice, been running a couple of the new manlands on some decks lately, and being able to use them as they should is excellent.

No probs :)

What I forgot to mention is that Cruel Bargain and Infernal Contract now fully work, thanks to Rob!

all rarities for Forge 02-09-2010

This archive contains updated rarity files for Forge 02-09-2010. I added the missing rarity values for the new cards that were included in version 02-09-2010. This set is not compatible with earlier versions of Forge.

This archive now contains only one set of rarity files. These files have had a rarity value assigned to all of the cards except for the basic lands, basic snow lands, and Rares three fantasy cards.

As of version 10-02-2009 these rarity files now go inside of the res folder and are now of no use to you if you place them in the root folder. You can place a copy inside of the res folder and a second copy inside of the quest folder.

These files are the 02-06-2010 version. No new cards were added. This is to replace the rarity files that were lost as part of the forum's restore from backup.

Woohoo! Thanks Chris!
 102 downloads already! This game is getting more and more popular! :D
But only 16 downloads on the Rarities file. :? (I standard grab both the new beta and the new rarities, I like to keep things up to date.)

As always, thanks Dennis.

I always include Chris's all rarity files in the releases that I post on my blog. Having all of the cards for draft, limited, and quest is really nice. Thanks Chris for the work.

p.s.
I thought people might want to add or remove cards from draft, limited, and quest but I doubt that most people do this. When I got hooked on Shandalar's draft mode, which I found accidentally, I really wanted to remove some of the horrible, horrible cards that I kept seeing. Most people really don't need to remove cards because I think that Forge has a good mix of powerful and average cards.

Here is the zipped version in case you haven't mastered the intricacies of rar. :) This version includes Chris's updated all rarity files which means that all of the cards will be used for sealed, draft, and quest.

What does the "Use LAF Fonts" and "Imports Pictures" option do?

(It is hard to keep track of all of the new options, lol.)

I think the LAF fonts are for the new Look and Feel (skins?) thingies, the most popular of which seems to be "Napkin".

Yeah, "Use LAF fonts" basically makes sure the default font setting is used (some of the GUI elements had specific font types assigned to them - and different LAFs might look funky without that setting).

Import pictures can be used to import pictures from a local location (HDD in most cases) as opposed to downloading them. The catch is, you would have to do this manually for each separate picture.

Thanks for the answer. I'll try to add it to my not-very-comprehensive Forge faq. (I try to be comprehensive but it is hard enough just covering the basics, ha.)

Where does Forge download the HQ pictures from?

Currently, it grabs it from mtgpics.chutography.com, and pics.slightlymagic.net as the other mirror.

Any chance of a new build this weekend?

Yeah, probably even earlier... bunch of fixed bugs, upcoming version should be much more stable than 02/09.

I think the sliver queen is bugged in this version.

When I have Sliver Legion and the Sliver Queen in play the queen is always +1/+1 more than the Legion when they should be the same right?

I'm playing a game right now and Legion is 26/26 and the Queen is 27/27

What's going on here? :)
