Suggestions on which server to use?

I'm new to forge, does anyone know any good servers to play on? And happen to have the url so I can connect to it?

There are no real servers. If someone wants to play online, they have to connect with somebody else that wants to play online. Creating servers may draw unwanted Wizardly attention.

How would you connect to someone else who wants to play online? Do you need to make your own server for that, or is there another way?

Just exchange IP addresses with your potential opponent.
