all rarities for Forge 02-21-2010

This archive contains updated rarity files for Forge 02-21-2010. I added the missing rarity values for the new cards that were included in version 02-21-2010. This set is not compatible with earlier versions of Forge.

This archive now contains only one set of rarity files. These files have had a rarity value assigned to all of the cards except for the basic lands, basic snow lands, and Rares three fantasy cards.

As of version 10-02-2009 these rarity files now go inside of the res folder and are now of no use to you if you place them in the root folder. You can place a copy inside of the res folder and a second copy inside of the quest folder.

you don't happen to have a memdump? ;)

(it may be worth to always use the option
Code: Select all
java -XX:+HeapDumpOnOutOfMemoryError -jar run-forge.jar
to make it easier to track other leaks. for those of you that don't bother to use the command line, or already use a shell/batch launch script, please give it a try)

This version is just the whipped topping for a delightful day. Thanks, DennisBergkamp, Silly Freak, Snacko, Chris, and Zen for Masticore (that is a very tough card to cut your teeth on).

I updated my blog with this version and included Chris' all rarity files and 171 pre-made decks.

Yeah, the Dimir Infiltrator link seems to be down (always has been, I think). I have no idea why though.

I think if you download it again, it will pull it from a second link? It should do that anyway without erroring though.

Are you talking about the slightlymagic mirror? You can set it to use it... but for some reason that one doesn't seem to work either :|

Don't know if this is only for Thorn-Thrash Viashino or applies for all Devour mechanics but, for the mentioned card, it only allows me to devour one creature and then goes into a stack and that is it.

My previous experiences with the mechanic on earlier versions of Forge has seen it correctly implemented. It may just be isolated to that particular card.

No significant slow-down of play so far v/s previous versions and for that I thank you profusely. I think the slow-down issue is the biggest one concerning this program and I applaud you for your attempts and resolving it head-on. Thanks.

Edit:

Correction... I just experienced a slow down in the program not from waiting on spells to resolve onto a stack, like with previous versions, but rather from transitions between phases which wasn't a problem before. I don't use HQ pictures and the problem, when it occurs, not only persists through different rounds against a particular opponent but also when I move on to a different opponent. However, when I shut the program down completely and restart it the slow-down goes away. I am playing the game in quest mode when this happens so I can't speak to other modes.

My operating system is Vista 64. My computer is a quad-core computer processing unit with dual 8800's in Scalable Link Interface(S.L.I.) mode. I run iTunes in the background when I play the game because the lack of audio feedback from the game makes me drowsy otherwise.

Edit:

Alright, I played some more and have come to find that the slow-down issue, while different from before, appears consistently enough as to make the program too frustrating to play longer than say, two or three games at a time before having to quit out completely which, for me, makes it too much trouble to deal with more than on a very limited basis.

Best of luck in tracking down this issue as I think that it makes or breaks what is otherwise an excellent program.

Devour UI was changed a bit. You can use CTRL+click to mark several creatures at once and devour them.

Do not include any of the three Incarnations in your deck. When one of them goes to the graveyard, the game will slow down by a noticeable amount.

Having too many tokens in play at a time can also create a similar situation.

Thanks, I'll use that then.

I'll keep that in mind but none of those conditions have been present in my particular slow-downs with the program.

Is there any chance of having more advanced filters and sorts in the near future? I would like to build, say, a Rebel deck, but as far as I know this creature type is listed between others, so the appropriate cards don't form a contiguous block of a sorted list. Granted, most of them have 'Human' as their first creature type, or names beginning with 'Ramosian' or 'Amrou', or have text about searching for other Rebels, but that's not my point.

P.S.: On the subject of tribal cards, Ball Lightning is an Elemental (I'm not sure how long it has been, but it's definite with the M2010 printing), though admittedly I use it more in my Mox Ruby - Goblin Lackey - Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker - Goblin Grenade - Ball Lightning - incidental burn charade.

EDIT: Spiritmonger gets a counter for damaging a planeswalker.
