EDIT: found the fix, i just had to add any actual font file (.ttf) to the cache/fonts folder. not sure why it doesn't come with one.
Maybe the font is not libre ??

download desktop snapshot here (as of this writing November 3, 2022 build): https://downloads.cardforge.org/dailysnapshots/
then run forge-adventure.exe (or forge-adventure.sh), it should run the backport. (see changelog for the updates)
I'm somewhat confused though, doesn't this have a Launcher with extra settings that the forge-adventure binary might lack ?

Mobile Forge Launcher is a simple front-end which allows you to define the desired screen resolution and set up whether you want the game to launch in full-screen mode or not. Resizing the front-end window will scale it, which is handy for those of you running this application on 2K/4K screens. Note that all the settings, including the window scale, are automatically saved when you launch the game or quit the front-end.

[...]

Once the game is running, you can set it to use the same card pictures as your desktop Forge uses (or use its own card picture cache folder) by using the options on the Settings->Files tab on the main screen. If that fails for any reason, you can also hand-edit forge.profile.preferences in the game folder and set the cacheDir parameter manually.

Please check the other options available in the Settings menu for some additional mobile interface-specific features that you may want to either enable or disable (for example, you'll most likely want to ensure that Battlefield Texture Filtering is enabled under Graphic Options and also enable the "Rotate Zoom Image" options for split cards and for plane cards).

When running forge-adventure from versions :
- forge-gui-desktop-1.6.54
- forge-gui-desktop-1.6.57-SNAPSHOT-07.02
- forge-gui-desktop-1.6.57-SNAPSHOT-07.06
under Windows 7 64-bit
with Full Screen mode

it seems to be completely impossible to do screenshots of the program ?!
All the screen recording software I've tested seems to treat it as completely transparent...

P.S.: I've tried to do a workaround (running an "artisanal" borderless fullscreen) using Borderless Gaming on forge-adventure from forge-gui-desktop-1.6.57-SNAPSHOT-07.02, and then :

In case, for any reason, the front-end (Mobile Forge Launcher) doesn't work for you, you can create the file "screen_resolution.ini" in your game folder (the same where the .jar file resides) and specify the desired resolution manually in the WxHxFS format, where FS is either "1" for fullscreen or 0 for windowed (e.g. 1920x1080x1 will run the game in 1920x1080 full screen, and 1280x800x0 will run the game in 1280x800 windowed). Then the game will try to switch the monitor to that resolution when launched. The following resolutions were tested both in windowed and in fullscreen mode and are known to be fully supported: 800x600, 1280x720, 1280x800, 1366x768, 1440x900, 1680x1050, 1920x1080, 2560x1440.
[...]
But creating that screen_resolution.ini seemingly has no effect, whether with 1920x1200x0 or 1920x1200x1...
(also why the lack of the Launcher is annoying !)

While trying to run with Borderless Gaming, this bug happens :
java_FRyFwFLP2D.jpg
EDIT : for some reason it doesn't show on this screenshot that the Keep button is highlighted only with the mouse cursor in this position, but not when over the button itself ??

Changing
in /res/adventure/common/config.json
Code: Select all
  "screenWidth": 480,
  "screenHeight": 270,
to
Code: Select all
  "screenWidth": 1920,
  "screenHeight": 1200,
seems to have for only effect to have the adventure interface to show up as tiny in the bottom left corner.

P.P.S.: Well, I was modifying the wrong config.json, the one under Roaming/Forge/adventure seems to take precedence, however it still results in (less) screwy display in combat... because I guess for some reason there's also a "videomode" (in addition to width/height), but it doesn't *really* accept 1200p as an option ??
Code: Select all
"width": 1920,
"height": 1200,
"plane": "Shandalar",
"videomode": "1200p",
