updating Forge (beginner)

Postby Jessica » 08 Feb 2019, 18:52

Hi,

I'm new to Forge. I just installed Java 8 and Forge is running great!

If there is a new Forge update released (and I don't change the default folders for card pics, decks, ...), do I just need to delete the old folder Forge was installed to and extract the update to a new folder?

Or are there more things I need to do to update Forge to a new version?

Jessica

Hi Jessica!

Welcome to Forge! When I update, I just extract the archive into a temporary folder then open that. Inside there is another archive. Just use JZip, WinZip or whatever to extract THAT archive into the temporary folder. Then, copy and paste all onto your main Forge directory and allow it to replace existing files. I have never had a problem updating that way.

Don't forget to go to the Content Downloader in Forge to get card images. :)

Best to you!

That reminds me to ask: where is the official website to check if there is a Forge update?
Is it this forum?

Yup. Also, if you play on mobile, when you launch Forge it will prompt you if an update is available.
