Best - individual cards and set to draft

I always knew that Forge wouldn't have whole sets or blocks but that lead me to the dual questions of, "What are Magic's most powerful cards?" and "What set is the best (most fun) to draft?"

Evan has talking about cube drafting (creating your own custom set and then drafting it) and it seems to answer both questions. (Obviously tastes will vary a little.)

p.s.
I haven't ever drafted in real life but if Forge could have one set it would have to be something multicolored. People seemed to have loved drafting Ravnica but I'm sure Worldwake is fun also.

Ever since Alara, Wizards has focused a lot more on making limited more fun. I suppose they're doing it to help drive booster sales, since you need lots of boosters to support limited. M10 was a huge success, not just because of the "new" cards, but also because it was the first core set that was draftable.

It still really bois down to your dream of having at least one complete set implemented.

Drafting seems to be where Wizards is making the most money. Constructed players probably buy from card shops and even pros seem to just borrow cards from other players or card shops. A single draft costs around $100 dollars a game. (This is just an approximation.)

Personally quest is my favorite option and I love the short, 10 win quests. Before quests I really enjoyed drafting because I have never done it on real life. Drafting also has different challenges. I also like the sealed deck format because it makes you use substandard cards, like quest.

I think good cards to draft are cards that could go in different decks and be utilized in unexpected ways. Bounce spells are a good example. They can be used to keep a creature at bay for a short period of time, but they can also be used to return Mulldrifter (or similar ETB creatures) to your hand for extra value.

For what it's worth: in real life I go to FNM's, win some packs (not every time obv.) and then use those packs to draft on Monday nights.

Personally I would love Time Spiral / Planar Chaos / Future Sight drafting in Forge if it was possible.

Time Spiral is a huge set, 408 cards, with the timeshifted reprints. I'm sure it was fun to draft though since it had so much variety.

Rise of the Eldrazi only has 233 cards so even though some of the cards are insane. It is a relatively small, self-contained set since it is meant to be drafted by itself, unlike most sets. (Except for Coldsnap of course. Did anyone like that set? I liked the idea of cold-everything and the card pictures but I have no idea how fun it was in draft.)

It's 238, not 233... though 20 are basic lands, of course.

As I recall, Coldsnap wasn't much fun for Drafting or Sealed.... I heard it was much more fun if it was drafted as part of the Ice Age block... but good luck getting boosters from Ice Age and Alliances....

I won't complain if you "only" managed to get all of the Rise of Eldrazi cards implemented for drafting ;) Wizards does a pretty good job with limited environments these days.

Working on it
Slapshot and I have added quite a few already... of course implementing ALL of them will be very tricky.

I just took the numbers from Gatherer. Sometimes I forget when to subtract.
