Yeah, I need to add the same check for all of these special cases (Battle of Wits, Near-Death Experience, Epic Struggle, etc.)
I like some of those alternate win conditions, they would require some extra coding but I'll see what I can do :)

S.orry Dennis, but the same turns out to happen for Battle of Wits, so other alternate wins might also be affected (though I can't think of any more in Forge at the moment). On the other hand, this bug does partially compensate for the rather meagre constant 10-credit bonus for winning the first two games of a match. (You have not lost once! Bonus: +10 credits. You have earned 851 credits in total.)

While we're on the subject, I thought some new special wins would be a cool possibility like some elements of the Fantasy quest...

  • Win without ever controlling a non-mana-producing permanent.
  • Win before your Nth turn.
  • Win without attacking (Shining Shoal et al. are allowed).
  • Win without losing any life, hence no Necropotence, Volcanic Fallout, etc. Gaining life does not restore this status.
  • Win while the computer's life is at least 20 lower than its value at the beginning of the turn.
  • Win after taking mulligans to zero (currently not allowed).
  • 'Epic': Win without casting a spell (in reality quite easy against certain decks; think about it).
These would be worth different numbers of credits, of course, and ideally could be handled by simple flags reset whenever a game begins, which I tried to keep in mind for the examples. If other people have more ideas, please share them. :)
This sounds like a fun idea. I didn't know milling gave extra credits, is there anything else that you can do in quest mode currently ( 5/10 ) that gives bonus points?

Yeah, although currently milling is actually broken, it won't give any extra credits - unless the computer mills YOU. Will be fixed next version...

Winning two games in a row (without losing any of the BO 3) will give you +15 extra credits.
Then alternate winning conditions should give you +100 credits (Near-Death Experience, Epic Struggle, Battle of Wits, Poison Counters, Helix Pinnacle, Felidar Sovereign, Barren Glory, Door to Nothingness, ...) per instance (so twice max per match), and the Treasury skill % will work on this reward.

Also, flanking doesn't seem to be working on the Wolf Pet - I attacked into a 2/2 First Strike with a 2/2 Wolf with Flanking, and my wolf died, even though it showed the creature was a 1/1.

I think that the flanking is triggering after first strike damage and it should happen after blockers are declared.

I get a bunch of errors, some recoverable, some not. I can't get into the deckbuilder or Quest Mode. Even starting Forge from scratch gives me the attached error. What am I missing?

I could be wrong but mixing the newer cards.txt file with an older version of Forge will likely create this error. Try re-downloading the 05-10 version and try to play with just the included files. :)

Yeah, this error looks like it's because of Eldrazi Conscription. It looks like you're using an incompatible version, somehow...
If all else fails, just open up cards.txt in a text editor, and remove the Eldrazi Conscription block from there.

Nah, my bad. It was a sloppy install on my part. I copied over everything from the RES folder on down, then inexplicably did not copy the new Forge.jar.

User error...

The new fantasy mode is very fun. I'm glad you could add annihilator and a few cards from Rise of the Eldrazi.

Thanks Dennis. \:D/

I like seeing the description of the AI decks. That is a good feature.

Is there a way to make the quest AI decks available to go up against in Constructed mode?

Thanks everyone. Wow. It's nice to be back around here. Definitely will try this fantasy quest mode out and all these Eldrazi cards (Especially the Levelers) out. And see what new stuff the AI can do too.

Yes, it is fairly easy with Forge 05-02 and later. You can copy over any of the AI ".dck" files found in the /res/quest/decks/ folder to your /res/decks/ folder. Some people are creating AI decks using the constructed mode deck editor and are play testing them in constructed mode.

Anyone who is interested is welcome to join in and ask questions and to participate in the process of creating AI decks. We have a topic in the Forge Decks Forum Decks for the AI. :)

I like seeing the description for the quest AI decks. It helps me play against different opponents.

On a side note, I laughed when I read a few of the decks descriptions that mentioned me as the deck's author. I feel humbled since Chris created 95% of the decks for quest anyways and his name isn't mentioned everywhere.

On another side note, I think everyone would agree that Chris' decks have worked out very well because it is hard to make decent AI decks because it depends on the individual AI code for each card.
