Roalesk, Apex Hybrid working as intended or bug?

When Roalesk, Apex Hybrid is your commander and it dies and goes into the command zone the proliferate trigger does not happen. If it dies and goes into the graveyard the trigger works correctly. Is this working as intended or is this a bug?

Works as intended. Commander change zone is a replacement effect and it replaces the move to graveyard

But its still dying and then goes to the command zone? Would the card not have to read when it enters the graveyard? The fact its going to the command zone wouldn't stop the die trigger from happening? The double proliferate trigger should still happen and currently it does not.

Never mind I looked into it more, I had no idea die triggers didn't work on commanders when put into the command zone...kinda dumb imo.
