Is there any way in Forge to see whether a deck is legal in Modern or in general for which formats it is legal?
And if yes, is it even possible to highlight the cards that are not legal in my desired format?

Hi,
this has been very recently asked/answered, I think, here:

Forge has some extensive filter options. Highlighting won't work, I guess, but you can set all kinds of filters to either show or hide matching cards.
There's also the (in the post above mentioned) magnifying glass in the "Current Deck" section.
