Latest release download hangs, please help.

I'm trying to download the latest release...1.6.42 but it keeps hanging at 40 megs out of 60. Are there other links to the download?

I've managed to download the full file...I guess...but only after resuming the download after it hangs and fails to download. When I extract it and double click on the TAR file it gives me this: How do you want to open this .tar file?

1) "C:program files (x86)\java\jre.1.8.0_221\bin\java.exe" "%1"
2) Look for an App in Microsoft store.

When I click on the first option, it just repeats the message.

Runing Windows 10 home, its on a laptop, 4 gigs ram, latest Java has been installed.

Topic necromancy. The recent response was to an old topic, presumably moot. The question was about an issue with version 1.6.42, but the game has advanced to version 1.6.46. So practically nobody downloads 1.6.42 anymore, and therefore practically nobody would have the download hang.
