Quick Quest Question

Say that title three times fast. Anyway, my question. I've been so drawn into the amazing program that is Forge. The quest mode is my favorite. However, an issue has arisen. Nothing with the program, it's as close to a perfect MTG program as can be found on the net. No, my problem stems from the fact that I've played quest mode so often using the July 31 release that I've gotten close to 200 matches played. I'd rather not lose all that progress. My question is: is it possible to just port my old quest file from the July 31 release over to the new release? And how would I do that?

Yes, your quest file is saved in the /res/quest folder as a file called "questData".

I'd recommend installing the 8/20 version in a different folder, then just copying (and overwriting) over your questData file from the 07/31 version into the 08/20's /res/quest folder.
If you've downloaded pictures for your 07/31 version, you don't have to download them all over again, just copy the contents of /res/pics.

In your Quests folder, there's a file called questData. Copy that from the 7/31 version and paste it into the Quests folder in your 8/20 version. If prompted to overwrite, click yes. You'll get your quest information that you've already put together.

edit: lol... Hey Dennis. Looks like we got to that one at the same time. <grin>

Why is there actually a questData file in the release? If it were packaged without one, it would be easier/safer for people to just merge the new files over the old. At launch, or at the start of a quest, if a questData file doesn't exist, then create an empty default.

I recently started forge without a questData file and forge threw an error exception. Granted, at some point someone with java skills may change the code to handle this more gracefully. :D

Originally, the questData file contained a record of your current card pool, your quest decks that you had constructed and saved - and - it also used to contain all of the AI decks that we would play against.

Several months ago, Dennis spent a lot of time changing the code to the point that we now have the AI decks saved as individual .dck files. Currently, the questData file is included to prevent the error exception. The quest mode is a work in progress and it continues to improve and change over time.
