Why was deckchecck.net taken down, since they only had deck lists?

The owner of deckcheck.net was upset with a decision of Wizards (to stop most support for Tournament Organizers that are not attached to a brick and mortar shop) and took the site down as a protest.

Yeah, WoTC are really screwing over the "little" guys and will pay a high price for their folly. Their old masters, Hasbro, are doing what so many other bigwigs have done...screw the base. Bad idea. Correction edit.

"New" Masters? They've been owned by Hasbro for 11 years. That's more than half of the amount of time WotC has existed.jeffwadsworth wrote:Yeah, WoTC are really screwing over the "little" guys and will pay a high price for their folly. For an old time player like me, there's nothing vicious about this. WoTC started a program to support all Tournament Organizers not so long ago and now they restrict it to only the real shops (as it was before). For me this is completely reasonable, as the shops are what keeps paper magic alive.jeffwadsworth wrote:Yeah, WoTC are really screwing over the "little" guys and will pay a high price for their folly. Perhaps you should check out some places that do not have Magic/Hobby shops. These guys really suffer from these restrictions. How do I know? I am one of them.Sloth wrote:For an old time player like me, there's nothing vicious about this. I was really sad to see deckcheck go, especially with the program hellfish made for me
I hope something else like that will turn up.

Hi,
I’m one of the developer of www.deckcheck.org and I know my English is crap. We are two developers and a lot more which insert new and old decks. We are using the biggest part of the old deckcheck (30.000 of 38.000 decks) and especially in legacy just a few decks are missing. Since the beginning of the project we insert over 500 decks manually and over 2000 with scripts. We know the site is not really perfect, but we do a lot to improve the site. If you have criticism or suggestions for improvement, tell us please! Or if you have new or old decklists which are not insert, send us please!
Only your feedback allows us to improve the site. Please help us!

Don't worry about your English, it's fine!
I took a quick look at the site & it is very good indeed. I think you will be getting allot more visitors now that Deckcheck is gone. This place has all the card images linked to the name of the cards in the deck, and they have a pie chart & graph representation of the mana costs for the decks.
The decks can be downloaded & suitable for LackeyCCG as well as Apprentice, MWS & MODO. The Apprentice, MWS version can also be opened in Nate's DeckBuilder & GH's Magic Album.
Thanks for letting us know about your site. I have a feeling you'll have allot of new visitors in the days & months to come from here at CCGHQ, and from sites everywhere around the world as you help to fill in the tremendous loss to all of us of Deckcheck!

If you'd like, Der Schrecken, I have all the decks from old deckdheck as txt files, unfortunately I don't have the information, just the lists
I got the decklists like that for implementation in BotArena, and I plan to continue with that on new Deckcheck, the main problem now being that your new system looks much harder to use than old numbering. With numbering, I had no problems identifying the decks uniquely, but with your new long identifiers it will be a challenge.
(To clarify: I use Erastothenes sieve algorithm to weed out all the decks that contain currently unsupported cards - for this reason I need to have ALL the decks locally as *.txt files so I could perform global move/edit operations on them - I also do things like edit card descriptions in many decks at once to make BotArena use the right pictures for the deck's era.)
At this point I have 1947 decks converted for BotArena format and fully supported... Sure, that's only around 5% of what old Deckcheck had, but it's still an achievement
It would be great if you could help me

Hi guys,
we was the last days a bit busy, but we both passed our exames, so dont be angry with us!
We have a lot of time in the next weeks to improve the website.
We have published the "meta overview" at our website now. I hope u will like it and give us feedback to improve it. I guess the potential is really, really big.
We have also updated a lot of new decks and in the next days all parts of the site will be up to date. We fixed a lot of bugs and some design mistakes.
Feedback would be nice!
And thank you all for the visits and using us at http://www.deckcheck.org!
