I downloaded the app and loaded the build configuration info and then changed the name of the jar to look for. Can someone with windows check this exe out and see if this version works and does not require you to rename the jar file?
`
That seems to work. Thanks Chris

Great update guys....

I've got some problems with countering the AI's spells.

I'm currently in a game where I have seven open mana, 2 Spell Pierce and 1 Stoic Rebuttal in hand and the AI is casting Pinpoint Avalanche.

Priority says "human" but when I click on either Stoic Rebuttal or Spell Pierce nothing happens...

Please see attached pic for the situation.

This is not the first time this has happend to me in this new build... seems odd.

Edit: The same happens with Force of Will in hand and another blue card to pitch.

Oh crap.
There was a slight logic error in my fix for the problem where the AI could counter any spell with things like Turn Aside,Hindering Light,Avoid Fate or Rebuff the Wicked. It's not slight enough, though, it makes all counterspells uncastable. :(
It's a pretty big issue, and while I can't judge if it's worth a reupload, but here it is in that case(don't want to dump a reupload on Chris right out of the blue!)
There's a few extra cards and the Ponder fix to make up for it :) (Based on r6414)

Thanks fish,

with the amount of work that gets done between updates I'm not surprised that some errors fall through the cracks... Keep up the good work.

I think that I would like to wait until next weekend before I release the following beta. Give people a chance to find and fix some bugs. And I want to give people enough time to see if the launchers is working for everyone. :D

Oh how very nice.

The AI can actually play more things on the Human turn.

So far, it looks like it's playing better. Haven't noticed any play moves that seemed really bad.

Edit: Wow, just ate a Wing Shards. This is DEFINITELY an improvement.

Yeah, the AI improvements make a huge difference. It is quite deadly with that Rod of Ruin.

When I try to open forge on a Mac using the forge.command script, I get a window saying: The file "forge.command" could not be executed because you do not have appropriate access privileges.

This is likely the result of my computer ignorance, though I am running on an administrator account.

The execute permissions have to be set on the script. Open a terminal, cd to the folder containing the script and run
Code: Select all
chmod 755 <script name>
Chris: .7z archives do not store the file permissions. Perhaps we should create a .tar.bz2 package for Mac/*nix?

I am sorry to see that LovelyDwarf had a problem with the Mac version of the launcher. I can extract the archive and use the launcher myself on my Mac. 8) I put together an updated version of forge using r6469. I first TAR'ed it and then I BZIP2'ed the archive. I can extract this archive and I can run forge r6469 using the included Mac launcher.

This may work. LovelyDwarf, can you try this version out and see if the launcher in this archive works for you? If it does not, then the file permissions refered to by Fnoed may be unique to each Mac somehow. I am not sure how this will work out but it is worth testing. :)

The link to:

forge-r6469.bz2

The included readme file states:

This test version of forge is based on rev 6469 which can be found on the SVN. This version is a minor update to the forge 02-14-2011 beta release. There are several new cards and some bug fixes.

The main purpose of this test version is to see if all three OS' (Windows, Mac OS X and *nix) have functional launchers at this time. We have changed the archiving format to .tar.bz2 since this may help to store the file permissions for the Mac OS X launcher.

The Windows launcher in this version does not require you to rename the forge JAR file to work properly. Please keep the forge JAR file name set to "run-forge.jar".

The dev team would appreciate it if the user base could test the three launchers for us and then let us know if it worked for you or not. Thank you for your assistance. Oh, as a reward, enjoy the new cards and bug fixes that come with this test version. :)

I'm having fun with all the new cards! Thanks to all you contributors.

Here's a fun bug, I can Use Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas multiple times per turn.
