Cube Update

Postby juzamjedi » 21 Feb 2012, 08:27

See this post for the latest cube update. Hopefully one of the mods will read this and add the list to the next release. I mostly update this cube to be similar to the cube I play in real life (minus conspiracies since Forge does not support them).

Size: Approx. 540
Powered: Yes

4-9-15: update through DTK. Added more morph cards to make it less obvious which ones your opponent has. Also added a few more cards to support token strategies (for example Glare of Subdual to support GW Tokens).

Thank you for the updated cube. :)

I imported in into the deck editor and these two cards have the "AI" flag:

Molten-Tail Masticore
Wild Dogs

These cards have the "?" flag and the AI will not be able to get full use out of them. The AI probably does not have the AI smarts to be able to see potential card combos:

Ankh of Mishra
Braids, Cabal Minion
Electrolyze
Nether Void
Simic Sky Swallower
Tangle Wire
Trinket Mage
Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
Vampire Hexmage
Vedalken Shackles
Voidmage Prodigy
Winter Orb
Zo-Zu the Punisher

I don't see the problem with Electrolyze, Simic Sky Swallower, Trinket Mage, Vampire Hexmage, or Voidmage Prodigy. The AI may not play them optimally, but they're creatures and removal and will all go decently in any deck (okay, Trinket Mage maybe not, but it's still a 2/2 for 3, which isn't the worst!).

Sloth removed the SVar:RemRandomDeck:True (the "?" in the deck editor) for these cards today, so they should be OK:

Electrolyze
Simic Sky Swallower
Trinket Mage

Vampire Hexmage and Voidmage Prodigy now have the SVar:RemAIDeck:True (the "AI" in the deck editor).

Generally whenever a cost includes sacrificing something or exiling its own stuff the RemAIDeck svar is added because the AI doesn't compare cost vs gain.

No problem Chris, I really love cube drafting so I might as well share my list with other users. I guess I'm using an older version - I generally will run cards with (?) status but I don't run AI status cards. I'll replace the problematic AI cards and place the update in the first post.

That makes sense. Can we remove the AI flag for Vampire Lacerator? We don't have it for Carnophage and Lacerator should be lower risk than him.

I merged you new 2-23-12 update.

AI can be tricky. With over 10,000 cards now in Forge we are finding it becoming more difficult to keep all of the cards properly marked with the AI SVars.

With your new update using rev 14347 on the SVN the following cards have the "?" flag.

Ankh of Mishra
Braids, Cabal Minion
Nether Void
Tangle Wire
Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
Vedalken Shackles
Winter Orb
Zo-Zu the Punisher

A few cards like these can be fun for the human player and the cube is not too vanilla. There are only a few of them and I think that the drafting code will try to prevent the AI form drafting these cards and then placing them into it's decks.

Having just a few should be OK. Try not to use too many of them in one color, spread them out and it should be OK. :)

6-10-12: updated list with AVR cards. You should definitely try Archwing Dragon and Zealous Conscripts, I've been playing them IRL cube and they've been good so far.

Thank you, I merged your work into the SVN. :)

Unfortunately, draft mode is broken in the new 1.2.8 beta.

Yeah, I'm staying with 1.2.7 for now; my primary use of Forge is for cube drafting. Hopefully gets fixed in the not too distant future :)

The latest snapshot build contains a bug fix for draft mode.
