How to file a Bug Report
by Chris H. » 03 Mar 2012, 15:15
The Current Known Bugs list topic over the years has out grown it's usefulness. It was suggested that we should try a different approach.
I have locked the Current Known Bugs list topic. It might seem extreme but we need to get people adjusted to the new system.
If you are using a snapshot build you should post your bug reports to this topic: Bug Reports (snapshot builds). Snapshot builds have a jar file that ends with these characters "-SNAPSHOT-jar-with-dependencies.jar". Snapshot archives have a file name that contains the characters "-SNAPSHOT".
If you are using a beta build you should post your bug reports to the topic that contains the release info and links for the beta release that you were using at the time that you noticed the bug. These topics start with these characters: "Forge Beta: ". The jar files for the betas do not include the "SNAPSHOT-jar-with-dependencies" string of characters. Beta archives have a file name that does not contain the characters "-SNAPSHOT".
All bug reports should include info pertaining to the version that you were using at the time of the bug occurrence. Please try to include as much info as is possible.
Your bug report should also include the crash report if one was generated. Please place this crash report inside of a code or spoiler block as it makes it easier to read.
Please do not post bug reports to this topic. They will be deleted or they will be moved to the appropriate place. I will allow discussion to take place on this topic for a few weeks as this new bug reporting system stabilizes. At some point I will delete the discussion and will lock this topic in order to make it more readable.
Thank you.
