Forge Beta: 07-13-2012 ver 1.2.10

11019 cards in total.


We have added 98.29% of the cards from the new M13 set to forge. With new cards and reprints we now have 230 out of 234 M13 cards in forge.

A recent contribution to the code base should fix some of the bugs that people noticed with cloning type abilities. At this time there are two remaining issues that we hope will be addressed in the near future.

1. Leave play triggers don't work correct for clones.
2. Copies of cards that setup Zone Change triggers via addComesIntoPlayCommand and addLeavesPlayCommand will not function correctly.

The work on the new UI is now finished. We should not expect major changes or major additions to the UI. Future betas may include a few minor bug fixes to the UI. And we may also include a few minor tweaks.

Selecting a package of cards in the quest mode card shop will not display the packages in the card picture and card detail panels.

Some people have noticed special quests do not have the start in play cards appearing. And some people have noticed that a match can start without any cards appearing in the players hands or in their libraries. We hope to have this problem fixed at some point in the future.

We are now using a different system for our snapshot and beta releases. Unfortunately, this new system builds a jar file which does not accurately display the SVN revision number.

Forge may not be fully java 7 compatible at this time. We recommend that people downgrade to java 6.

The Forge archive includes a readme.txt file and we ask that you spend a few minutes reading this file as it contains some information that may prove useful. We do tend to update this file at times and you should quickly read this file and look for new information for each and every new release. Thank you.

We have changed the archival format used for the Forge distributions from ".zip" to ".tar.bz2". There are utilities for Windows, Mac OS and the various *nix's that can be used to decompress these ".tar.bz2" archives. We recommend that you decompress the Forge archive into a new and unused folder.

Some people use the Windows application 7zip. This utility can be found at http://www.7-zip.org/download.html. Mac users can double click on the archive and the application Archive Utility will launch and extract the archive. Mac users do not need to download a separate utility.

Pictures for M13 and PC2 are currently not available. They should be available sometime in the next few weeks (this is something that's worked on by a different team, so the only thing we can do is wait).

so, can you clone from different zones now? for example Sun Titan -> Phantasmal Image or Birthing Pod -> Phyrexian Metamorph?

i think (but im not 100% certain) that Xathrid Gorgon's ability doesnt change the color of the creature to colourless

It says it right in the text. "It gains defender and becomes a colorless artifact in addition to its other types"

Wait, are you saying Forge doesn't change the target to colorless, or that it shouldn't change it to colorless? Please try to be more clear with what you see is happening, and what you think should happen.

Hey guys, sorry for the spam but I just posted the following message a couple of hours ago (and then the new build came along.) I've verified that both issues are still present in 1.2.10, so I'm just moving it from there to here:

Hi everyone, this is my first post. I just discovered Forge a couple of days ago, and I have to say I'm amazed with the work you've done. Since I'm giving Forge a lot of attention, I hope it's alright if I upload bugs as I find them - I'll stick to the appropriate version threads, but I'll check the bug tracker and all relevant threads to make sure I'm not uploading dupes.

Issue: Land image "LAND1.full.jpg" not being used for any set
Description: Cardforge will attempt to evenly split any number of lands in a deck between alternate art, but it will never use the first image of a land for any set.
Repro: Make a deck with 60 Lorwyn forests. Start a game in developer mode, use "Tutor for Card" command. The deck is composed of approximately 20 copies of "Forest2.full.jpg", "Forest3.full.jpg", and "Forest4.full.jpg".
Note: This also applies to the default ZEN land set.

Issue: Phase counter begins game at final position of previous game
Description: Before the first player's M1 step, the phase counter will display the phase in which the previous game ended.
Repro: Win a game in the Combat Damage step. Quit the match and restart. The phase counter will highlight human player's CD step.
Note: Not major, but a little disorienting if the player previously quit during their first main phase, especially since the "NO" mulligan confirmation is in the same spot as the "OK" button.

These should be working now. I tested Sun Titan, Restoration Angel, and Undying before I committed the changes.

I'm new to forge, and i'm pretty impressed. I've found a couple of bugs.

1. When playing reshape, sacrificing chromatic star, the card draw should resolve before the search, but forge does the search before the draw.

2. When sacrificing chromatic star to its own ability the draw effect does not immediately trigger, it waits until you perform another action.

The former, Forge doesnt change the color of the target to colorless, the creature i targeted remained white (i think, the border looked white instead of grey)

I've attached an edited Index - is also in 9ED.

The new UI looks great! Would it be possible to give the damage assignment popup a little love, too? IMHO the worst old UI element still left.

Bug: When suspending Rift Bolt I have to click an extra 'ok' as if it went on the stack. Before it 'resolves' I can suspend the same card again. Fortunately I only got one suspended copy.

I had an issue earlier where Forge would not let me play a second copy of Edgewalker (one was already on the battlefield, along with a boatload of other clerics.) Every time I would click the card in my hand, I would get a crash report.

Annoyingly enough, I think I've been able to repro this once (using a deck of nothing but Plains, Swamps, and Edgewalker.) [This is embarassing, but it was something like three in the morning - I can't say for sure.] I later made a deck full of lands and almost all the supported creatures with a spell-cost-change ability that would affect future copies of themselves, and the crash didn't reoccur (even after going back to all-Edgewalkers.)

I've saved the crash report, but I didn't upload it at the time as I wanted to repro it first (old habits die hard.) Which do you guys prefer, submitting through the built-in system or on the forum?

I don't see them in the Pictures forum, they usually aren't out till a week or two after release.
