Not saying its a bad idea but you can't expect lay people to want to even think about doing that. Much less grasp HOW to do it. Also I agree with Rob on why not to use alternatives to Gatherer...I for one am partial to older version art for the most part. I am not putting down the current string of art directors but I think some of the "upgrades" were just hideous. Of course art taste is a matter of opinion. Which is why it is great there are choices.
Gando, I think you missed my main point. It's not that everybody should generate the card images using that url, but that somebody should add a default option to MTGForge to generate a card image url from that template if none is given. That way people generating cards don't have to go searching for image urls, and people who like alternate art can use a different urls for particular cards. Just an idea. What I do in Incantus is use that scheme, but then have a directory where users can place alternate artwork (using the same imagename.jpg scheme as above)

Thanks for the info Gando. I will do my best to make sure that this is corrected in the upcoming new data files.

As far as Ajani Goldmane goes, it's in the CardFactory source, so I think it just must've gotten deleted somehow in from cards.txt. Not sure why.
If you get a chance, using my previous copy of the data files try to put together a test deck. Plains, Swamp, Darkling Stalker, and Ajani Goldmane. Do they work as expected?

I'm currently down to the letter L. I see that Leaf-Crowned Elder has an incorrect casting cost of 3 G G. I have corrected this in my data files.

While adding your new cards it came to me that LifeLink may be a new keyword.

Currently the cards.txt file includes:

Kaysa
3 G G
Legendary Creature
All green creatures you control get +1/+1.
2/3

If I added the word LifeLink to her would she now have this additional ability. That is, if as a test, I made her card info look like this:

Kaysa
3 G G
Legendary Creature
All green creatures you control get +1/+1.
2/3
LifeLink

I ask this because the Horned Cheetah card in your beta cards.txt file looks like this:

Horned Cheetah
2 G W
Creature Cat
no text
2/2
Lifelink

Yes! That's exactly right. Except, make sure it's Lifelink, not LifeLink (only the first L is capitalized).
But Lifelink is a keyword, for sure. So in the future, "vanilla" creature cards that have lifelink can be directly created through cards.txt :)

Hmmm, something new to fix.

While adding Meng Huo, Barbarian King I noticed that several of the Legendary Creatures listed in cards.txt do not include the creature subtypes while others include them.

I will add the missing data to the Legendary Creatures while I am adding the new cards.

I will test this later this afternoon, however, I can tell you one thing already, for Ajani Goldmane (and I think also the other planeswalkers?) you can still play his abilities during the computer's turn (even worse, you can first play an ability during your own turn, then during the computer's turn you can play another). Anyway, I know how to fix this and I will do so for the next version.

EDIT: one more bug I found is with creatures that have Flash. Once they're in play, when you click on them you can cast them again. This bug is also present in the 12/03 version. Another thing to fix...

I DL'ed and saved the entire gather database of cards several months ago. Next week I will try to search this database using the word: Lifelink. We may get lucky. :)

The cards with Lifelink I added I found on Magiccards.info, searching for "Lifelink" contained in the Oracle Rules text. I think I found all the "vanilla" ones. The rest require programming (like Brion Stoutarm).

WOOT! Thank you so much for this update! And for all the work you guys put into it. =D>
2009 is fast approaching for me, just 90 minutes until the new year, so for me, this is the best way to leave 2008: with a new MTG Forge update. (who cares if it is beta, if it works , it works!)

I have been keeping out of things here lately as most of it was techno babble about programming issues for this game and I am no coder. But this update draws me out and forces me to reply. :D

So again, thank you! (Nemata, Grove Guardian is in it. *drools*) =P~

Oh, and a happy and healthy 2009 to all of you!

Ah, who cares if it makes me look like a fool, if you are happy, show it! so, once again... WOOT!

Well, we try to make this the most woot-worthy forum of its type. :)

This is a popular topic, thanks DennisBergkamp. I personally don't upload using forum attachments; it seems dangerous to me somehow. Regardless, we aim to please so I put on my admin hat and added you to our uploaders group. You should now be able to attach with impunity should you so desire. If you can't, let me know.

Huggy, thanks a bunch! It was no problem really, the google sites thing seems to work alright. But directly attaching stuff is probably way easier :D

And Mr. Chaos, een Gelukkig Nieuwjaar to you too :D

I suspected that you may have beat me to this seeing as you turned Lifelink into a keyword.

We need the help of the non-coders to beta test not only the beta forge application but also the soon to be released data files which will bring the beta version up to 1091 cards. That is worth a WOOT!
