Do you remember which creatures these were?
I'll test this with some arbitrary 5/5, 4/4 and 1/3....

EDIT: I can't reproduce this bug: I'm attacking with my Silverback Ape which gets blocked by the AI's Silkenfist Fighter and Plated Spider, I assign 4 damage to the Plated Spider and 1 damage to the Silkenfist Fighter. Plated Spider and Silverback Ape both die.
I retry the same scenario, but now I assign 3 damage to the Silkenfist Fighter, 2 damage to the Plated Spider. Silkenfist Fighter and Silverback ape both go to the graveyard...

Re: Current Known Bugs list

I am play testing some of the new cards. My deck has vampires and wither creatures. The computer failed to play a land on it's first turn. With the land stacking the computer should put into play:

T1 Badlands - T2 Underground Sea - T3 Swamp - T4 Mountain - T5 Island - T6 Volcanic Island

and looking at my attachment we see the computer with:

T1 - T2 Underground Sea - T3 Swamp - T4 Mountain - T5 Island -

On the computer's first turn we expect that it would play the Badlands, but no land is put into play.

On the computer's second turn we see the Underground Sea coming into play, but what happened to the Badlands?

I went into the console and I copied and pasted the deck order for the computer. And the eighth card listed is Badlands. What happened to this card, I do not know?

Wow, very interesting! Can you post the .deck file of your deck?

It was during a quest mode match the attacker was a 1/1 soldier pumped to 4/4 by Elspeth and then further pumped by Exalted to 5/5. the Blockers were a Court Archers, and a Battlegrace Angel.

I can't reproduce this. For me, both my soldier token and the AI's Battlegrace Angel die after I assigned 4 damage to it (check screenshot).
What I did notice however, is that lifelink doesn't seem to trigger during planeswalker combat (when the AI attacked my Elspeth with a single Battlegrace Angel it didn't gain 6 life).

I am play testing some of the new cards. My deck has vampires and wither creatures. The computer failed to play a land on it's first turn. With the land stacking the computer should put into play:
I can't reproduce this bug either! The computer just plays a Badlands each time I've tried this (on the first turn). Does the AI never play the land for you when playing against this deck?

So I'm not sure, whether these bugs are flukes that happen only part of the time, or what... the land not being played on turn 1 seems to definitely fall into this category, since I've seen that happen myself from time to time.

EDIT: I forgot to include the screenshot.

Phase Problems

Postby mtgrares » 09 Apr 2009, 20:06

Occansionally MTG Forge seems to skip a phase too quickly. When I play MTG Forge and press OK very quickly sometimes the program seems to "skip" the combat phase and my creatures and the computers creatures have assigned combat damage during the Main2 phase.

Also I've had the computer NOT play a land on the first turn and then discard a land to the graveyard. I presume this is also a "phase skip" problem.

Phase skips are a tough problem because of the current architecture they are impossible to reproduce.

I have seen this problem on several occassions with other decks. I don't think it is the deck or the cards within that cause the problem.

This last time I noticed that this happened not on the first game but the second game in a match. Rares has mentioned that sometimes things can carry over from the previous game.

I had some interesting data with the screen shot and the console listing. Can you put in a statement or two when the first land is to be played? It might help to generate additional data points as we try to track this down.

Sure thing, I can easily put some outputs of when the AI is thinking about playing a land / putting a land into play.

And also, maybe as another fix I could attempt to do another check during Main2. And if the AI hasn't played a land yet, he could drop one then.

I put together a dual land and Wild Nacatl deck in order to perform a testing.

On my first turn I played a Taiga and summoned a Wild Nacatl. It appears as a 2/2.

On the computer's first turn it does the same thing and both Wild Nacatl are 2/2.

On my second turn I play a Savannah and my Wild Nacatl becomes a 3/3. I move my mouse pointer to the computer's Wild Nacatl and it is also now a 3/3. At this point I have all three colors but the computer only has Mountain + Forest.

On the computer's second turn it plays a Savannah and it's Wild Nacatl remains a 3/3 and thankfully does not become a 4/4. =D>

Ahh, I see what's happening, for some reason I'm checking to see if there's a Mountain / Plains in play, as opposed to controlling them.
Does this happen to Kird Ape as well?

I have an Elvish Lookout with Shroud in play and I attacked with it and it taps as is normal. I then use my Royal Assassin to Destroy target tapped Elvish Lookout during the Declare Blockers - Play Instants and Abilities stop.

I was also able to use the Royal Assassin ability to destroy a tapped Deadly Insect during my second main phase.

I have tried to cast several spells during the first and second main phases that would target this Elvish Lookout and the shroud ability is preventing this targeting.

I have a Nimble Mongoose in play and there are 7 cards in the graveyard and the Nimble Mongoose is still a 1/1 creature.

I put an eighth card in my graveyard and the Nimble Mongoose remains a 1/1 creature and has not received it's threshold +2/+2 bonus.

Hmmm, is the Nimble Mongoose shroud ability preventing the threshold ability from targeting the Nimble Mongoose for the +2/+2 bonus? #-o

Chris,

I started to see if I could reproduce these bugs, but then I realised....
Shroud and Nimble Mongoose aren't actually implemented yet in 04/04 :)

I guess these cards ended up in your cards.txt because we were discussing shroud / protection from {color} and I named the cards I already did, you probably pasted them into your cards.txt

OK, my bad.

I had two copies of 04/04. One has the data files from this version. The second copy was meant for adding the data for the next batch of cards coming out. I confused the two copies. hehe.

Actually, I think that part of the shroud code is in place. Just part of it, and it doesn't not have all of the checks in place.
