Display glitch / undesirable feature

Postby RumbleBBU » 26 Aug 2012, 04:39

I'm not really sure whether this counts as a bug or a slightly problematic feature, but I'm mentioning it anyway.

Playing the 1.2.12-20120824.101427-11 build on my laptop at 1024x768 (the max this particular laptop can do undocked), I run into problem when there are lots of cards in play. More specifically, when I have lots of cards in play and play one more permanent, all my permanents disappear!
Maximizing the size of the Human Field area helps until I play some more permanents, then they disappear again.
The only 'solution' I have come across is to stack Computer Field, Human Field and Human Hand and make them tabbed - but I hate playing the game like that. I have to switch between the 3 tabs when trying to make tactical decisions. And when I cast a spell like Terror, I first need to go to the Human Hand tab and choose it, then go to the Computer Field tab and choose the target, then go to the Human Field tab and tap the mana sources. Uggh...
And what's worse, even with the tabbed CH, HF and HH, I could still reach the limit that makes my in-play permanents disappear.

Is there any better solution to this? I guess what I would like to see is a scrollable Field area when the game cannot reduce the size of the card/token pics any further.
Even better, also allow manual reordering of your cards and tokens. I would prefer to group them in a way that keeps my mana-source&tap-ability creatures separate from my attackers so I don't accidentally attack with a 1/1 guy who taps for something useful.

Our UI coder left the project soon after converting everything over to the current customizable skinned tab layout, due to other real life commmitments (and I think a bit of burnout after that giant undertaking). Unfortunately a few small bugs like this did creep in and they tend to stick around for a while before someone manages to fix it. Manual reordering of your cards is probably unlikely until a new GUI programmer joins the team.
