RSI isn't fun.

In fact, I'm willing to bet it's a problem for many of us!

With this in mind, I was wondering if a new feature could be added, something along the lines of skipping phases that don't require a reaction. If you've seen how MagArena does it that's pretty much what I'm thinking of. Conversely, this auto-skip function would pause at the appropriate point when your input's required somehow, be it to counter a spell, activate an ability, or tap something in response.

In the same vein, auto-tapping mana would be nice if it's obvious that there's nothing else to tap--just wondering if these two features would be feasible to implement in any manner since my hands tend to flare up after a couple of hours in Forge. Even after deactivating all but M1, M2, and End of Turn phases, that's still an average of three button presses per turn, more if I have to cast something.

Thoughts?

I'm not sure what RSI means, but we already have phase stopping. Just click on the phase that you want to skip, and if nothing triggers there it'll blow right by. The color should change from Green to Red.

Also, we do have a thread dedicated for feature requests, which would be the right place to request something such as auto-tapping of land.

@ Sol:

RSI stands for repetitive stress injuries.

@ Saturnine:

I feel your pain as I too suffer from RSI. :(

I tend to only play one or two matches at a time and I then take a break while I rest my hands and attend to other matters.

Some games like the various FPS games tend to create more of a RSI problem for myself. I find that forge tends not to create as much of a problem.

Sol makes a good point in that you can turn off various phases by clicking on them.

I'm aware of that thread, but I figured making a separate thread for an informal survey wouldn't go amiss. That being said, I've only three phases active per turn as noted in my post (the rest are all stopped), but at upwards of 20-40 turns per game on average it all adds up.

Thanks for the input! :) I wasn't aware of it at first, but as I mentioned, even just three phases per turn is three buttons that need to be pressed too many. Some automation in what is basically me hammering away at the Spacebar/Enter key would be nice, hence my making this thread. Would love to hear what the regulars have to think.

We do also have a Skip to Next turn button in the Dock. Maybe this will do what you want?

It's kind of... unwieldy? Redundant? I still had to press the button and then press Enter/Spacebar--there's still an extra element of clicking involved.

Have you tried MagArena, though? There's an element of snappiness and minimal player input that I think could be adopted in Forge without sacrificing any of its core gameplay.

I've enabled a keyboard shortcut for the "Pass priority until net turn" button. You still have to pass priority afterwards though but still might make life a bit easier. Just set up whichever key makes life easiest for you from Preferences.

Alright, thanks a lot! Appreciate it. :)
