Some moderate user/player questions.
by The Full Monty » 26 Oct 2012, 18:52
Been playing this for about 30 hours now (over a couple of weeks) and I just have some things I'd like to know more about.
First off I just want to say Thank you x1000 to everyone involved in this project. I was a player back in the mid 90s up to Merc Masks and recently just wanted to get back into it for casual fun (ie. not 100$'s of dollars to stay competitive). This program runs amazingly but I'd like to "fine-tune" some things for my personal play style. I've tried searching the forums a few times but I get lost in the long threads and haven't been able to find my answers.
1. Is there a way I can change the 1000 max sell in the spell shop during the quest? I'd personally like to set the starting values at 10% and as I increase in rank, have it get up to 50% of the cards value at max level. I'm not sure how it currently increases but from 20-22% (so far)isn't really a large change. And as I said, I'd like to remove the "limit". Since the game is solo and I don't take vintage packs usually, I'd like to be able to earn quite a large sum of money from regular cards as I progress. In my current quest, I bought a limited ed. pack and I'd like to sell some of the cards I'll never use and eventually save up enough to get another (ie. if I sold the cards I had, I'd make up about 30-40% of the cost and only have to quest for the remainder, instead of like 9041401 gold at 50 gold a win)
2. I have noticed some pre-con's aren't in the game (or are not seen in store/able to start a quest with), any way I can implement them, I've done a basic search of the card files and it looks like all the cards are implemented (namely "Fangs of the Bloodchief")but not the deck as a whole.
3. I tried editing the costs of the booster packs in the booster-prices.txt but they do not change in the game (I tried to vary the prices by age, making m12 cheap and work my way up for the older packs). Any ideas?
4. I also editted the values for wins/losses/starting money/etc, but there seems to be a very small cap on some of them, and no cap on others. Is there a way around this? At the moment I have my quests set to 100-200 wins per rank and a booster pack for every 5 wins. I'd like to make the quest more enjoyable by having my wins give me more than 50~ gold so I can take a crappy deck and add onto it as things become available over time. (ie. start with 1 deck... precon or not, and go from there more easily).
5. I am not sure if I missed it yet, but there is a thread a few down on the forums about RTR images. I know it says that you can get the LQ ones (I think?) but are the HQ ones available yet or are they going to be a bit yet?
6. Lastly, this is not related to the program itself. But what is these "cubes" I read about? Are they a 3 booster block, 6 booster block, etc? I tried making one for Urza's Legacy, Urza's Sage, and Urza's Destiny (with the hopes of drafting or making a deck from boosters in each set) but it didn't work quite right when given my options. If it is 6, than I'd like to be able to do 2 from each. There is a post on the forums that explains HOW to change things, I just don't understand what exactly the cube is, so fill me in
Thank you all so much again, and for any answers I might/hope to receive to make this program truly amazing. The effort and time it must have taken is staggering but you guys have done an amazing job.

1. There isn't really a preference to remove the Max Selling Limit. It does go away once you hit 51 Wins I believe. (The shopkeep doesn't have that much cash on handThe Full Monty wrote:1. 2. Probably the cards needed for any precons like this were added after the other precons were created from that set. Gos does a great job of gathering this data for us, but we do occasionally miss some. Feel free to post specific ones that should be 100% implemented in a thread in viewforum.php?f=48
3. My intuition says to make sure you don't edit them while Forge is open. Although, I haven't touched any of the pricing stuff, so that may not really help.
4. I can't tell what you are asking for here? I can make base winnings higher than 50. Plus the more difficult opponent you play the more money you make (and even more for doing challenges).
5. RTR is almost ready, just waiting for the CCGHQPics team to finish them and upload them.
6. http://www.cubedrafting.com/what-is-the-cube/ Basically it's a way to just draft (generally 3 "packs") a whole bunch of random cards together. What you wanted is to just to draft a set of Urza's Block, and choose the selection box that gives you one of each pack, which should be available without creating a Cube.

Thanks Sol,
I haven't made it to 51 wins yet, but if that is the case, then there isn't a need to add anything special for little old me. I'll give it a go through over the next week and help Gos by formulating a list of missing decks (I'm sure they're already in the thread).
Number 3 is still a mystery, I did have the program closed but it still never took hold.
For number 4, I meant to ask what the limits of each branch are, in game you can edit the preferences but it only allows 250 (or so I believe) but when I change the actual preferences file, I'm able to get higher numbers for some values while other changes aren't transferred into the game at all (just like number 3).
5,6. Thank you
I didn't want to be one of those guys asking about (probably) well known info about RTR, but I'm just getting back into it so I wasn't sure as to when after release you guys update, and the link is very helpful. Thanks again!

There is a quest.preferences file that you can manually edit with a text editor that lets you change a number of those values to a greater extent than what Forge will allow in-game. One of them is the amount of credits you start with.

timmermac, that is where some of the issues are. There seems to be limits in that file that is different for each thing. Was wondering why that was (ie. starting credits can be huge, but max. for a win is something like 200 vs easy opponents)
Also still not luck modding the actual prices of packs and such.

Here's my quest.preferences file. If you edit it in notepad, you should be able to get some interesting amounts.
