A search turned up a question about the ipad specifically but is there a different tablet that would run forge?
I'd like to pick one up and if one could run forge and the other couldn't that would definitely be a dealbreaker for me.

If you know a way to install Java on the tablet, it should be able to run Forge. I'm not sure Java Runtime is very widespread on Tablets these days.

I'm not certain that IPads or Android tablets have enough processing power or RAM to run Forge. Forge tends to really only be effective with an absolute minimum of 1 gigabyte of RAM, and it seems to work better with at least 2 or 3 gigabytes.

You can run it on ipad, if you use Splashtop app to stream forge from computer.

To be technical, that's not running it on an ipad, that's running it on a computer and streaming the display/input to your tablet. Without the computer nearby you wouldn't be able to run it this way.

If you have a microsoft surface tablet, I guess you can now install forge on that, correct?

Should be able to, it's just Windows 8, so Java installations shouldn't be an issue.

The Surface Pro will be running Windows 8. The Surface RT, which is the one on the market right now, runs Windows RT, which can't do Java yet (possibly never.) From what I understand, you can only install the software that's available on Microsoft's marketplace on the RT anyway. The Surface Pro should be similar to any other Windows machine.

I know it's an old thread, but it's a good place for this comment.

I have a Dell tablet with Windows 8 and it runs Forge - a little slowly (it's a slow tablet) but it's not annoyingly slow. I haven't pushed it too far, yet, so maybe in future games with 100s of cards on the battlefield it might die a slow and painful death of agonizing deathiness.

However on tablets, especially touch-enabled tablets like mine, the interface would need a LOT of modification in order to work well. My dell has a stylus so I can still (barely) work with stacked cards (such as tokens) but it doesn't always work. The "OK" button to progress through phases is very very finicky with touch or stylus and often doesn't register a buttonPress event (more likely a limitation in the touch interface on the tablet, I think; I have the same issue with other programs). In fact, just getting that OK button to press is the most frustrating thing and it's what keeps me from playing on the tablet regularly. I think a fully touch-enabled interface for Forge is probably a lot of work and time away. But I'm sure it'll happen eventually.

I personally also dislike pressing that ok button. What do you think, will timer mode like in dotp 12 or 13 be better?

Unfortunatelly, noone here has an idea on how to port forge to mobile. It Appears impossible until someone divides forge into client and server and makes an html5 client runnable on any tablet or phone. (At least I would try that way, given unlimited time)

I'm curious as to how this was done.

I have Windows 8 pro 64 bit and I can't get forge to run without crashing at the very start of the game. Windoes 8 and Java don't get along well at all. Java does provide a download link on their website for Windows 8, with a comment that Java is only available in desktop mode (I believe thats referring to IE10) but nothing I do makes forge WORK.

Desperate here. So desperate I may set up a dual boot XP specifically, and only, to play Forge. =(

I'm pretty sure I just downloaded the Java install from java.com. It's been a while since I installed Forge on my Win8 Laptop or tablet so I don't remember if I ran into too much trouble or not. But I can confirm I have Java installed in my programs/features control panel.
As a note, I'm using Maxthon, a WebKit based browser, which might have made an impact on java.com letting me download and install java in desktop mode.
I'll be upgrading my desktop to Win8 in the not too distant future, I'll pay closer attention to how I install and troubleshoot Forge when I do so I can report back on it.

That gives me an idea. I haven't tried to install Java from a browser thats not IE10.

The Java website FAQ says that "Java com provides a Java version based on your browser and operating system (OS)."

I will install either FF or Chrome and see if I have better success installing
