MTG Forge 03/10 - with Quest Mode

AI should start out with some weak-sauce decks, and get stronger decks as the game progresses.

I would like to divide the quest into thirds and play against easy AI decks the first third, medium decks the second third and hard decks the last third. We could even have some overlap to keep things interesting.

I'm planning to spend some more time experiencing the quest mode.

Maybe the coders can take a look at the code and the data file format and make a decision on if/how the deckers can mark a deck as easy, moderate or hard.

I'm glad that quest is well received. Even though the AI's deck are very random, I still really enjoy questing. Having the AI use the appropriate deck is probably the biggest concern, to begin with the AI will use weak decks, then later on stronger decks.

I'm glad that the Battle of Wits decks surprised you, it also surprised me. The computer blew me out of the water with a turn 5 kill.

Yeah this isn't REALLY appropriate for this kind of thing unless we are including lots of GOOD removal. On the other hand it is a laugh to see the Computer Wins the Game message because you failed to kill him off by the end of your turn 6. Id say because of the incontrovertable nature of Battle of Wits a) don't ever let the questor have this card b) include disenchant/naturalize/demystify/aura of silence/elvish lyrist etc in the card pool so that they come up fairly often. (cf my frequencies idea.)

I have just finished my second series of quests. I had several good blue cards, including Cloud Djinn, Cloud Dragon, Timetwister and Bribery. My initial strongest colors were R+W.

I won 8 out of ten games, but I think that had more to do with getting good cards and good draws during my games.

Gando, I was able to closely beat your decks by a narrow margin ... except for the Burning Dragons deck. That one ate me for breakfast.

Here is the deck that I fielded and most of these cards were in my beginning pool or were a part of the first three booster packs that I won.

I am now starting my 4th or 5th quest. I have not yet tried B and U for my colors. I'm wondering if anyone has tried this as a challenge? Next quest, I may try several different card pools until I get one that looks promising in B and U.

Currently, I am trying a three color deck in quest mode. My initial card pool included a Godsire and a couple of support cards ... I could not resist. So far, I have had great success in getting the Godsire into play.

Ive managed to play quest mode with every conceivable deck type I think. Well of the kinds I allow...I changed the rarities to not include cards that are Mystic Rares...as much as I like cards like Thornling and Rafiq of the Many. I really think the Quest Mode won't be complete until we have sets instead of just one big card pool.
